“Koko the Gorilla”

Prompt:
Animal Intelligence is something being discussed in the scientific circles devoted to this
matter. Multi-disciplinary researchers involved in this investigation are human and animal
psychologists, neurologists, doctors in human medicine, veterinaries, among others are trying
to discover what involves animal intelligence. Consequently, these professionals have turned
around their sights to gorillas which surprisingly seem to be very clever. One of these
extraordinary apes is the gorilla called Koko. As a result, prepare a composition summarizing
what you have investigated about “Koko he Gorilla” in an essay format.

First of all, get together in GROUPS OF THREE or FOUR students (no more than three).
Second, based on this prompt, prepare an outline with a good thesis statement. Then support
your thesis statement with the main ideas that support what you research about Koko.
After that, support these main ideas with details using facts & reasons, and specific examples.
Finally, prepare a conclusion that reflects the main ideas that you have exposed in the body in
the way of a summary or a restatement of your thesis statement. Remember to investigate
on different media, and you can search on the Internet (on serious and prestigious web
pages) in order to support your ideas. Also investigate and read books or magazines that
can help you support your topic in your essay. Use good grammar and vocabulary items
that are based on unit 04,5 and 6 for ARW02 (see your grammar and vocabulary items in your
book). Use and underline a good variety of grammar and vocabulary items. Use
adequate connectors (subordinating conjunctions, coordinating conjunctions, and
transitions), keep good UNITY and COHERENCE, and also keep good mechanics
(spelling, punctuation, capitalization, etc.) Finally, use the APA guidelines in order to
incorporate OUTSIDE SOURCES of information to support your ideas and present the book,
magazines, web page, etc. as REFERERENCE using the APA guidelines after your
composition paper is done.

Present your outline to your teacher for corrections and then when your outline is good
prepare your composition in an essay format.

Our group has researched about an extraordinary ape called Koko because this primate shows
