T3 SAFETY GEAR / OVERSPEED GOVERNOR PROTECTION

T3.1 Safety Gear Car

T3.1.1 Examination
According EN 81-1:1998, Annex D.

Standard procedures to install and test GED10/20 safety gears and GBP overspeed governor are
explained on K603433 and K601885 documents.

In case the Safety Gear braking distance is not according specifications, corrections should be made
according K603435.

Nevertheless, the additional information below is especially adapted to the S001 Rel. 3 characteristics

Preconditions

; Electrical and mechanical parts completely installed. Especially, the car must have its final total weight
including mirror, deco-ceiling…
; Recall Control ESE available, to perform the test and to be able to move the car in "Recall Mode" –
even if KF and KBV are open)
; Check that the safety gear is well centered [S = 1.5 – 2 mm] and adjust if necessary using the screw A.
; Real BKS: check that the black skate doesn't stand more than 3 mm inside the rail (right figure)
; Correct Cwt balance must be checked: see page 18 "Counterweight Balancing"
WARNING! The motor does not have enough moment/power to recover the car loaded with 125%
rated load. For this reason, it's important to test the safety gear when the car is next to a landing
door. In this way, you can access the car, unload a portion of the weight and recover the safety
gear to the normal position using the Recall Control (ESE).

It is forbidden to perform the safety gear test with no load in the car!

T3.4 Safety Gear Counterweight
In case rooms under the shaft are accessible, the EN81-1 requires having a safety gear on the Cwt. In
S001 Rel. 3 a solution based on a suspension failure is used, allowing to be tested statically for
acceptance.

Preconditions

; All mechanical parts must be fully installed including mirror, deco-ceiling…

; The Car & Cwt must be correctly balanced.
Safety Gear Counterweight (manual Test Procedure)

; Activate the inspection mode on the car roof.

; Enter the car roof
; Travel in inspection until the top of the Cwt with safety gear is at ± 1.5 meter above the car roof.
; Confirm the presence of the label on the upper yoke, indicating the crushing risk.
; Verify the maximum possible movement of the safety gear sledge of 70 mm, since this affects the
available safety space on the car roof: see page 10 "Clearances and Run-bys".
; Pull red tag down (avoid crushing your hand!).
; Check that the safety contact (KFG) has switched off, by trying to travel in inspection.
; Release red tag.
; Reset the safety contact (KFG).
; Loosen both screws and remove one of them from the safety switch (KFG). Turn it so that it won't be
activated by the lever anymore (in order to be able to travel in inspection on the car roof at any time).
; Pull red tag down (avoid crushing your hand!).
; Press the DREC-U button on the inspection panel while the red tag is being pulled down.
; As soon as the sledge stops descending, indicate on car roof by pushing the stop button.
; Confirm that the Cwt is fully blocked and is hanging in the safety gear.
; Confirm that the sledge has come down to its lowest position.
; Press the DREC-D button on the inspection panel.
; As soon as the Cwt with safety gear has come out of its blocked position, release the DREC-U button.
; Turn the safety swith (KFG) to its original position. Put back the removed screw and tighten both
screws (in order to have a readily working system again).
; Pull red tag down without crushing your hand. 69 mm

; Check that the safety contact (KFG) has switched off,

by trying to travel in inspection.
; Release red tag. Label
; Reset the safety contact (KFG).
; Travel to the LDU floor.
; Leave the car roof.
; De-activate the inspection mode on the car roof. 68 mm Red Tag
