STERILIZATION WRAPS

Med-Con Sterile Barriers Systems are proudly finished in Australia from Ahlstrom Fabrics.
Ahlstrom is constantly improving components and developing manufacturing techniques, providing the
medical community with the most advanced fabrics. Controlled non-woven construction provides
unsurpassed fabric uniformity. The combination of different fibres, manufacturing processes and
sequential wrapping techniques create a bacterial barrier to prevent the migration of micro-organisms.
Med-Con Sterile Barrier Systems have excellent fluid repellency and provide a barrier against particles.
Our nonwoven fabrics not only repel water and blood but also low tension liquids. Our product range is
available in several different qualities, with the right strength for every application.

The right strength for each application.

Med-Con wraps reduce the risk of puncturing or tearing. They are available in a range of sizes and
resistances that cover every application.

The right softness for easier wrapping.

Med-Con wraps are soft and smooth and non-slip, allowing fast wrapping, therefore saving time and
improving efficiency. They wrap perfectly around a wide variety of items.

The right permeability during Sterilization..

Med-Con wraps are more compatible with the majority of sterilizers. They deliver optimal integrity during
all phases of the steam sterilization process - pre-vacuum, air removal, steam penetration and drying
cycle. Fully permeable to ETO, Med-Con wraps do not impede rapid aeration of contents during
desorption time. They allow for alternative sterilization with gamma radiation and E-beam processes for
future commercial sterilization processing. Plasma Wrap is the newest addition to our fabric range and
is designed specifically for gas plasma sterilization.

The right barrier during storage.

Med-Con fabrics ensure sterility of package contents until opened. There is no more effective fluid barrier.
Our new range provides superior fluid repellency from simple water to the most demanding low -tension
surface liquids. Liquid repellency helps avoid contamination by preventing bacteria passing through a
wet area. There are no more advanced particles barriers. The manufacturing process, sequential
wrapping method and accurate product selection, create a tortuous path to prevent the migration of micro-
organisms.

The right visual.

The even uniformity allows for the immediate detection of pinholes and other eventualities that
compromise the packaging integrity and sterility of medical devices.

The lowest lint generation in their class.

Med-Con Medical wraps resist potential damage from scuffing and rubbing, therefore providing the lowest
lint generation in their class.

Memory Free.
When packages wrapped in Med-Con non-woven fabrics are opened they stay open, without closing back
along crease lines. Med-Con wraps enable staff to remove the pack contents with a reduced risk of
contamination. The lack of memory reduces any potential for spring back of the wraps.

STERICLIN® - DOUBLE WRAP

Double Wrap SMS/non-woven ARTG No. 135954

Innovative Stericlin double wrap meets the requirements of DIN EN ISO 11607 and DIN EN 868-2 and
combines two different materials together: a blue sheet of non-woven polypropylene (SMS) made of
synthetic fibres and a green sheet of non-woven made of cellulose and synthetic fibres, which are firmly
welded together at both sides. The extreme stability of the blue SMS material is combined with the
properties of the blend fibres of the green non-woven, which supports the complete drying of the residual
moisture after sterilisation. Furthermore, damage to the packaging is more easily identifiable by the
different colours of the inner (green) and outer (blue) sheet.

Double Wrap SMS/SMS

Meets the requirements of DIN EN ISO 11607 and DIN EN 868-2 combining two SMS wrapping materials:
a blue sheet of non-woven polypropylene SMMS 60g and a green sheet of non-woven
polypropylene SSMMS 47g, which are firmly welded together at both sides. Damage to the packaging is
more easily identifiable by the different colours of the inner (green) and outer (blue) sheet.
Non-woven polypropylene (SMS) is extremely tear-resistant, robust and drapable. Our non-woven
polypropylene consisting of several layers of spunbond fibres (S) and meltblown fibres (M). Spunbond
layers provide exceptional flexibility and drapability, whereas meltblown layers provide excellent defence
against bacteria.

TRAY LINERS

Functions and Advantages of a Tray Liner

• Tray liners by Med-Con are specifically designed to provide a soft, low linting, highly absorbent fabric
that absorbs seven times its own weight in water. This is essential in assisting with wicking excessive
moisture from trays, instruments and bowl sets.

• Low in Lint - all high quality tray liners provide protection from fabric that generates lint. Modern non-
woven fabrics have replaced products in theatres, which have the potential to produce lint such as
paper and cotton.

• Less labour intensive - reduction in costs associated with maintenance and laundering of linen.

• Multiple applications - prevents tearing of wraps from abrasion between the tray corners and storage
shelving when used between the wrap and tray. Reduces wear and tear on instruments during
processing and transport increasing the useful life of instruments and reducing risk of potential for wet
load.

• Can be used in Steam and ETO sterilization

STERICLIN® BLUE LINE SEE THROUGH LAMINATED
NON-WOVEN POUCHES AND ROLLS

Ideal for large-volume goods – high steam permeability – DIN EN ISO 11607

STERICLIN® see-through packaging made of 60 g/m² non-woven with sealed-laminated film. Three
indicators for STEAM, EO and FORM-sterilisation are printed outside the filling area. Our system
combines the sterilisation-technical advantages of flexible packaging (non-woven fabric) with the
facilitation of see-through packaging. The high air and steam permeability allows the use of large and
absorbent loads. Due to mechanical strength, heavy instruments can also be safely packaged. Stericlin®
see-through packaging meets the requirements of DIN EN ISO 11607 and EN 868-5.

Instructions for use:

STERICLIN® Blue Line see-through non-woven pouches were designed tor stand much higher stresses
than normal pouches. Nevertheless, it is necessary to follow some essential rules by using this packaging
material.

Filling:
STERICLIN® Blue Line see-through pouches should be filled only up to three quarter of their overall
space. Sharp or pointed items should be protected separately to avoid damage to the pouch. An empty
space of at least 5 cm from the seal area should be maintained to avoid stress on the seal. Avoid any
kind of folding - this potentially weakens the laminate material!
Bowl type medical devices should be packed with the hollow side to the non-woven side of the pouch to
ensure the best possible steam penetration.

Sealing:
For see-through pouches, continuous sealing devices are most suitable. The sealing temperature should
be in the range of 175°-200°C.

Place inside the sterilization basket:

Smaller packs should be placed in a container (e.g. sterilization basket) so that they support one another.
Place the pouches film-to-film and non-woven to non-woven. Larger packs must be laid with the non-
woven on the downside. This eases steam penetration and drying. Always take heed of the Sterilizers
manufacturer’s instructions for use, correspondingly use validated configurations.

STERICLIN® BLUE LINE -SEE THROUGH LAMINATED
NON-WOVEN POUCHES AND ROLLS cont’d…

After sterilization:
Check the change of colour of the indicator after the sterilization process and look for any kind of damage
on the package. If the packs are still wet 30 minutes after the sterilization process they are not storable
and must be newly packed.

Open:
To maintain an easy opening of the pouch with a heavy load there are specially marked and shaped seals
on both edges of the pouch. Lay down the pouch for the opening procedure on a table, open the sealed
edges – these prevent dust sedimentation – and peel apart the film and the non-woven.

Storage:
Store the pouches away from dampness, soiling, vermin, mechanical strains, extreme temperatures and
ultraviolet rays. Store separately from un-sterile Goods. Refer to Australian Standards and DIN 58953
part 7 and other norms for storage conditions.

POUCHES and Rolls made of TYVEK and PETP/PE DIN EN ISO 11607; EN 868-9

The quality of Stericlin® see-through packaging made of Tyvek® and composite film is decisively
influenced by the selected material. Therefore, only the strongest medical Tyvek®: Type 1073 B with a
base weight of 75 g/m² is used. Our sterile defence system is distinguished by its excellent barrier against
germs and moisture, extremely high resistance to penetration and fibre free peeling without delamination.
Tyvek® and the composite film used are ideal for VH2O2 (plasma)-, EO-, FORM- and irradiation
sterilisation. Two indicators for the VH2O2 (plasma)- and EO sterilisation are printed outside the filling
area. The Stericlin® sterile barrier system is first choice in gas sterilisation, as Tyvek® and the composite
film hardly absorbs the toxic gases and enable residual gases to be far below specified limits.

VALIDATION TESTS FOR SEALING PROCESSES

ISO 11607-1: This standard requires a validation of the sealing and packing process.
Push Dye Indicator Test and pT Tester.

ARROWPACK Push Indicator Dye Test is specially developed to check the integrity of your seals,
produced by your heat sealer, the aluminium package will protect the test ink from light (for Paper and
Tyvek packaging). With this ink test you can easily, safe and quickly, perform an ink test according to the
ISO 11607-1 as written in appendix B. Another great advantage of Push Indicator Dye Test, is that you
can prepare and seal your test pouch in advance, without the risk of leakage or migration of blue dye
onto any objects in your work area.

The first, double check, indicator for two, most critical parameters on your sealing device, namely
temperature and pressure. pT-Tester is a unique dual parameter check for routine and daily monitoring
of your rotary sealer performance, to ensure complete integrity of your sterile barrier system (SBS).
pT-Tester complies to the ISO EN 11607-2 requirements.

Aternatively:

With the seal seam integrity test from Stericlin® you get a simple tool to check
these requirements. Daily checking of the seal seams produced by your heat sealer
is simply by means of a specially designated testing solution.

The Stericlin® Seal Test is for the routine testing of your heat sealer. The medical grade
paper is imprinted with a contrast stripe that clearly detects irregularities of the seal seam.

ADHESIVE TAPES – WITH AND WITHOUT INDICATOR

High Temperature Adhesive Tapes for STEAM, ETO and DRY HEAT sterilization.
Adhesive Tapes with Chemical Indicators for STEAM, ETO and DRY HEAT sterilization

Application:
For fixing of sterile packs wrapped in crepe, non-woven and SMS. For identification of sterilized/ non-
sterilized packs.

Evaluation:
Examine the colour of the indicator in sufficient light and assess the colour-change. A distinct colour
change shows the important sterilization parameters have been achieved. The typical colour changes
are:
Steam Green  brown/blk
E.T.O. Dark red  green
Plasma Blue  Pink/Red
Colour Change:
If the colour change is incomplete some or all the important sterilization parameters have not been met.
Therefore, the batch should be considered as ‘non-sterile’ - check your sterilizer.

Safety advice:
Do not compromise the tape directly or indirectly by use of solvent pens. The indicator tapes are designed
for single use only.

Storage and shelf life:

The tapes and indicator tapes must be protected against direct UV-light and must be stored at a
temperature of 15°C - 25°C and a relative humidity of 40 - 60%. All tapes with and without indicator have
a shelf life of 2 years after date of manufacture. Please note: CE marking is not applicable for indicator
products, because this product is not considered a medical product under the clause of the EC-directive
93/42/EWG.

MEDICART IT

Medicart IT: Locking medication carts and monitoring the administration of medication is becoming
increasingly important and access to the EMR (Electronic Medical Record). Belintra offers various locking
options. For carts equipped with IT this is implemented using USB control via the PC to grant access
through badge, password or other identification methods.

Power Pack – COW Controller and Battery: The built in COW controller is an intelligent battery charger
with integrated dual DCDC conversion and a USB connection to the built-in PC. The COW controller also
monitors the battery status and keeps a log file of charging/discharging.
The Power Pack also includes a Belintra GEL battery with a capacity of 12 V - 480 Wh. Depending on
the hardware chosen the battery can have an autonomy of up to 20 hours. It is highly recommended to
not completely let the battery discharge. To this end a visual monitoring is possible, both on the Roll-IT
itself with a LED indicator as on the PC display with the Battery Monitor Software*.

Back Pack: The Belintra Back Pack is an external housing that offers the possibility of incorporating the
hardware and neatly connecting screen, keyboard, badge reader, scanner, etc.

LOCKING for standard MEDICARTS

Carts without integrated IT can be fitted with a keypad with PIN code. This keypad
is ergonomically integrated into the raised edge of the Kydex worktop.
The drawers are opened by entering the PIN code. The drawers can be
closed/locked again in two ways: automatically after a certain defined time or
manually by entering a code again. The LED indicator lights up green if the trolley
is opened, and when closed the LED indicator is red.

When configuring the any cart including IT, you can allocate which drawers need
to be locked and be fitted with a locking mechanism. The chosen drawers are unlocked and locked
together. If necessary your own technical staff can add or remove closing mechanisms over time. If a
drawer is open after locking, it will still automatically lock when shut.

Emergency opening is possible at all times if there is a power outage due to a technical fault.

The cart is easy to lock still by the two brakes on the front wheels.

Stericart:
The design of the new-generation Stericart transport carts from Belintra is based on the ISO 400 x 600
mm standard. The Stericart is made from highly polished AISI 304 stainless steel and is suitable for
use in washing tunnels. The Stericart was developed as a transport cart between the sterile processing
department (CSSD) and the operating theatre, while simultaneously serving as a case-cart in theatre.

This unique Stericart gives staff in both departments the advantage of using just
one model. The unique concept with 12 sound dampening runners lets the user
choose between 11 stainless steel wire baskets or 11 stainless steel wire shelves
for optimal loading.

Underneath, Belintra Stericarts have a closed stainless steel base plate, so that
any dirt or dust raised by the castors has no chance of reaching the sterile sets.
The base plate also has a gently sloping roof shape that prevents water or
moisture from remaining on the surface. Our Stericarts are fitted with high-quality, car-wash-resistant
wheels. The slight rolling resistance and the smooth pivoting action of these wheels make these Stericarts
ergonomic to use in the CSSD and in operating theatre.

Belintra also have a range of closed transport carts in Aluminum and

Stainless Steel for safe transportation of sterile or non-sterile goods around
the hospital.

PC BASKETS AND MODULES

Injection molded polycarbonate (PC) modules (closed base) and baskets (perforated base) are extremely
impact-resistant, durable and transparent. The standard ISO external dimensions, i.e. 600 x 400 mm,
ensure that the modules can be used in all Belintra storage and transport systems, medical care and
medication distribution carts. The modules are available in heights of 50 and 100 mm and can be
subdivided by means of PC dividers. These baskets form the main building blocks of the FIFO system.

Polycarbonate (PC) has excellent mechanical properties; baskets have a load-bearing capacity of 35kg
and are extremely break-resistant when exposed to sudden, high impact situations. Polycarbonate can
withstand temperatures of between -40°C and +120°C, the baskets can also be put through a steam
tunnel.

Polycarbonate (PC) dividers are slotted into the grooves, with the result that they are extremely well
secured creating a range of compartments. The dividers are inter-secured by means of a T connection.

Sterisystem Dry-Base® instrument trays

Sterisystem Dry-Base® instrument trays have been manufactured from highly polished AISI 304L grade
stainless steel. Continuous quality control throughout the production process guarantees quality and
dimensional stability. Therefore Belintra offer a 10 year warranty on all our Sterisystem Dry-Base®
instrument trays. The Dry-Base® of the instrument baskets ensures good evacuation of condensing
liquids.

The fine, 2 mm holes made by the punch pattern guarantee a permeability of more than 50%, which can
only benefit the washing process. As steam and water can readily penetrate during the sterilization and
washing process, an optimum result is guaranteed. The sides protect the instruments against damage
and have been designed to accommodate extra fine instruments. Sterisystem Dry-Base® instrument
trays are fitted with 2 handles and have a loadbearing capacity of 15 kg.

The upper wire has been welded on to the sides of the basket. This results in a beautifully finished product
that is devoid of any sharp edges and dispenses with the risk of perforations during unpacking. The upper
wire also ensures that the top of the basket cannot become contaminated by dirt.

For identification and traceability purposes, the Sterisystem Dry-Base® instrument trays come with a bar
code zone.

For quality-assurance purposes, all our baskets are put through a special quality control tool. To make
sure that the mesh is uniform in size, the base over every basket is meticulously checked, which is vital
of course if we want to ensure that your instruments remain firmly in place.

For identification and traceability purposes, the instrument baskets come with a bar code zone.

Sterisystem Dry-Base® Steri-ID instrument trays

Sterisystem Dry-Base® instrument trays with integrated Steri-ID are made in accordance with the same
quality criteria as our standard Sterisystem Dry-Base® instrument trays.
The integrated Steri-ID RFID tag is a high quality alternative to barcode stickers used to keep track of the
contents of instrument baskets. Stickers are easily damaged, become illegible and as such regularly need
to be removed and replaced. The embedded tag however is resistant to washing and sterilization
conditions in the autoclave (high temperatures, steam and vacuum) as well as to the most common
chemicals used in hospitals. It is therefore it can be used for over 400 cycles.

The embedded Steri-ID tag is based on ISO 15693 technology. Thanks to this open platform you have
the opportunity to make a selection among different suppliers of RFID writing and reading technologies.
Steri-ID tag can be scanned through the sterilization packaging; hence no direct viewing is required to
trace the contents during the entire sterilization process.

STERI-TOP LID
Designed with four silicone corners that and can easily be clicked onto the
instrument tray. All components are resistant to washing and autoclave
sterilization conditions (high temperatures, steam and vacuum) as well as to
the most common chemicals used in hospitals. The ingenious design of the lids allows them to be stacked
in storage when not in use. The lids are available for DIN 1/4, DIN 1/2 and DIN 1/1 baskets and 8 different
colors.
The color-coding can be useful in distinguishing different OR sets or different departments . Please enquire

EN and other internationally recognized standards. All testing was performed in soiled conditions
demonstrating that Sporeclear works in the presence of organic matter. SporeClear’s cleaning and
disinfection action is simultaneous and its efficacy is unaffected by the presence of soiling.

Sporicidal EN13704 1 minute Clostridium difficile spores, Bacillus subtilis spores, Clostridium sporogenes spores,
Bacillus cereus spores

Sporeclear will also reduce Biofilms.

As SporeClear is not volatile, then 1 minute of wetness is extremely easy to achieve on equipment and
surfaces. Sporeclear will not evaporate on normal hospital surfaces before the 1 minute contact time is
completed.

It is follows that the more liquid contained in each wipe means the greater area of coverage from each
wipe. One Sporeclear wipe goes further before it dries out. Wetness of the complete surface is easier to
achieve.
The greater the volume of liquid also means the wipe will stay wetter for longer, giving the user time to
complete the task.
SporeClear achieves what other products cannot: sporicidal effectiveness without any harsh chemical
action. SporeClear is formulated with low concentrations of high level actives which are then cleverly
combined with other ingredients in such a way that interactions enhance the activity to a level which is
beyond each of those separate actives.

Key end use applications:

All Hospital Departments, all hard surfaces: Theatre medical surfaces and equipment, ICU, Beds,
Trolleys, Diagnostic Tables or Chairs, Dialysis, Paediatric Intensive Care, Cancer Treatment Wards,
anywhere where immunocompromised patients may attend.

GP, Dental and Specialist Surgery Centres i.e. Cosmetic. Veterinary Hospitals and Clinics, Aged Care,
Clean Rooms and Labs.

Compatibility:
Unlike alcohol and high volatility products SporeClear will not damage or remove artwork from equipment
displays or plastic key pads which are intended to be cleaned with moist cloths. As usual it is worth testing
on a small area first. Safe on walls, floors, work tops, medical equipment, metals, rubber, vinyl, acrylics
(Perspex), porcelain, ceramics, painted and varnished wood surfaces and fabrics.
