SWC Lesson Reflection (Completed after EVERY lesson taught)

Select (S):
The lesson is about letter J, since it will be story time, I will read a story, I will ask host questions and I
will use effective activities to increase from the children’s motivation and make the lesson active and move
with the flow.
Describe (D):
Who is the lesson for?
Where did the lesson take place?
What were you trying to achieve in your lesson?
What did the students do?

The lesson is for KG1, the lesson didn’t go well, not all of the children listen to my instructions well, most
of them were chatting and playing with each other, I think that happened because the teacher in the early
morning gather the children on the carpet and they spend long time sitting on the carpet, so that effects on
the children and they felt bored and want to do something else, that’s makes me feel sad and disappointed.

They always like to dance and listen to stories. Some of the children like the story and they were focused
but some others were playing with each other and talking in a loud voice.
I tried my best to achieve my one goal, but the children disappointed me and make me feel sad.
I don’t think that they understood the lesson well, because they were not focused that much, but I did my
best.

When they sat on the carpet most of them were taking with each other, I use clapping as a strategy to
make them quiet, some of them listen and some of them didn’t listen.
There is something I did, and I like it, when I pass the pictures, they start making noise and I took the
pictures back and ask them to go back to their seats, this was the first time I do something like that, and I
felt like I am strong. I also told them that I was sad, some of them were sorry for that and some others
didn’t listen to me.
I was more than disappointed.
Analyze (A):
Why do you think the students responded the way that they did?
How well did your teaching relate to the students’ prior understanding?
How well did you engage the students?

The children responds was half negative and half positive, the negative because as I said maybe because
before snack time they spend much of time on the carpet with the teacher, and the positive because they
were interested and motivated.
I used the story as an engagement for the children because it was a story time.

Appraise (A):
Explain the nature of the experience from the students’ perspective
Did your lesson meet your teaching goals?

I didn’t meet my teaching goal well.

Transform (T):
How might you enhance student learning of this lesson in the future?
What are the implications for your professional practice?

I may replace the story with the song I prepare for the closing, or hide the pictures in the classroom.
