This course covers the management of RecoverPoint 4.0. It introduces Unisphere for
RecoverPoint, including functions and navigation.
This course is intended for those who are responsible for managing RecoverPoint 4.0.

This module focuses on the Unisphere for RecoverPoint interface which is introduced with
RecoverPoint 4.0. A high level overview will open the course, showing how to access the
interface and the system specifications required to run the Unisphere for RecoverPoint UI.
The overview will be then be followed by a demonstration showing how RecoverPoint
operations can be performed using the interface.

RecoverPoint 4.0 introduces the Unisphere for RecoverPoint user interface, a web based
client that replaces the RecoverPoint Management Application available with previous
versions of RecoverPoint. Users familiar with any one of the EMC Common User Interface
Toolkit based interfaces will find it easy and intuitive to navigate through the Unisphere for
RecoverPoint GUI. This significantly reduces the learning curve for users. When logged in
logged in, users are immediately presented with a topology of their RecoverPoint system, as
well as health and traffic information. All protection and recovery operations are wizard
based with clearly defined, intuitive steps.

As mentioned earlier, RecoverPoint 4.0 environments are managed with Unisphere for
RecoverPoint.
Supported web browsers are Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, and Chrome running on Linux
or Windows XP, Vista, 7, or 8 operating systems. The browsers must be running Adobe Flash
version 10 or newer.

A number of terminology changes are introduced with the release of RecoverPoint 4.0. The
term site now replaces what was previously known as a cluster, since there may be more
than one cluster in a geographic location. Replication method terminology has also been
replaced to more clearly define the type of replication taking place. All volumes in
consistency groups are considered copies in RecoverPoint 4.0. A Production Copy replicates
to a Local or Remote Copy. Any copy that is considered non-production is called a Replica
Copy. The group of clusters which constitute an entire RecoverPoint environment is now
considered a RecoverPoint system.

This demonstration covers basic operations in the Unisphere for RecoverPoint interface. It
begins with an overview of the dashboard, and then continues with the process of creating
consistency groups, viewing multiple remote copies, configuring synchronous replication,
and failover and failback operations.

Since Unisphere for RecoverPoint is the only user interface available with RecoverPoint 4.0,
almost every feature available in the previous user interface has been carried over, except for
one limitation. Specifically, Unisphere for RecoverPoint does not display a warning in the
event that a replica volume has been resized, like the RecoverPoint Management Application
in previous versions.

This course covered the different views and operations which can be performed in the
Unisphere for RecoverPoint interface.

This concludes the training. Proceed to the course assessment on the next slide.
