Day 1
바다
바닷바람이 너무 상쾌해요. The sea breeze feels really refreshing. 바람= wind, breeze
너무 = too, excessively
상쾌하다 = to be refreshing
바다를 보면 기분이 When I see the sea, I feel happy. 보다 = to see, to watch, to look
-(으)면 = if + S + V, once + S + V
좋아져요. 기분 = mood, feelings
좋아지다 = to become good, to get better
바다에서 수영해 본 적 Have you ever tried swimming in the sea? -에서 = at, in, from
수영하다 = to swim
있어요? -(으)ㄴ 적 있다 = to have + p.p. (experience)
바닷가에 살면, 바다에 자주 Since you live near the sea, do you go to -가 = by, near, edge, verge

Day 2
배우다
한국어 어디에서 배웠어요? Where did you learn Korean? 한국어 = the Korean language
어디 = where

20살 때 처음 운전을 I learned how to drive for the first time -살 = age, years old
when I was 20 years old. 때 = when, during
배웠어요. 처음 = first, for the first time
운전 = driving
분명히 배웠는데 기억이 I’m sure I learned it (before), but I can’t 분명히 = for sure, certainly, without doubt
remember. -았/었/였는데 = S + V-ed but
안 나요. 기억 = memory
안 = not
기억이 나다 = to remember
어릴 때 피아노하고 발레를 When I was young, I learned piano and 어리다 = to be young

영어는 배우면 배울수록 더 The more I learn English, the more it 영어 = English

영화
어떤 영화 좋아해요? What kind of movie do you like? 어떤 = what kind of, which
좋아하다 = to like
그 영화는 평이 안 좋아요. The reviews of that movie are not really 그 = that, the
good. 평 = review, criticism
안 = not
좋다 = to be good
그 영화 줄거리가 어떻게 What’s the story line of the movie? 그 = that, the
줄거리 = story line
돼요? 어떻게 = how, what
어떻게 되다 = to be + how
이 영화는 작년에 찍었는데 This movie was filmed last year but 이 = this
released this year. 작년 = last year
올해 개봉했어요. -에 = at, in, from, to
찍다 = to film
-았/었/였는데 = S + V-ed but
올해 = this year
개봉하다 = to be released (movie)
Day 4
기다리다
오래 기다리다 to wait for a long time 오래 = for long, for a long time
손꼽아 기다리다 to eagerly look forward to something, to 손꼽다 = to count something with one’s fingers
count the days waiting for something
오래 기다렸어요? Have you been waiting for long? 오래 = long, a long time
잠깐만 기다려 주세요. Wait for a moment, please. 잠깐 = short time, for a moment
-만 = just, only
-아/어/여 주세요 = Do something for me.
아무리 기다려도 답장이 No matter how long I wait, there is no 아무리 -아/어/여도 = no matter how much + S + V
reply. 답장 = reply
없어요. 없다 = to not have, to not exist, to be not there
기다리고 기다리던 날이 The day for which I have waited and 기다리고 기다리던 = N + that + S + was eagerly looking

내일은 손꼽아 기다리던 Tomorrow is the picnic day that I have 내일 = tomorrow

좋은 is the adjective form of 좋다.
일 = thing, occasion, stuff, work
일이 있다 = something happens
-(으)ㄹ 것이다 = will, to be going to + V
추우니까 밖에서 기다리지 It’s cold outside so don’t wait outside, but 춥다 = to be cold
inside. -(으)니까 = since, because
말고 안에서 기다려요. 밖 = outside
-에서 = at, in, from, to
-지 말다 = Don’t + V
안 = inside
Day 5
농담
농담이 안 통하다 to not get the joke, to not have a sense of 안 = not
humor, to not accept any jokes 통하다 = to go through, to be conveyed, to be understood
농담이 지나치네요. You’ve gone too far with your joke. 지나치다 = to be excessive
농담으로 한 말인데, 화를 I was saying it as a joke, but he got mad. -으로 = as, to, with, via, through
말 = language, word, expression
냈어요. -(으/느)ㄴ데 = but, and
화 = anger
화를 내다 = to get angry
농담을 했는데 아무도 안 I told a joke, but no one laughed. -(으/느)ㄴ데 = but, and

농담으로라도 그런 말은 Don’t say such a thing, not even as a joke. -으로 = as, to, with, via, through

I tell it, it sounds boring. 재미있는 is the adjective form of 재미있다.

제가 = I (polite) (subject)
말하다 = to talk, to speak, to tell, to say
-(으)면 = if + S + V, once + S + V
-아/어/여지다 = to become + adjective
농담으로 한 말이니까 I was joking so don’t take it so seriously. -으로 = as, to, with, via, through
말 = language, word, expression
그렇게 심각하게 -이니까 = since/because + S + V
받아들이지 마세요. 그렇다 = to be like that
그렇게 is the adverb form of 그렇다.
심각하다 = to be serious
심각하게 is the adverb form of 심각하다.
받아들이다 = to take
-지 마세요 = Don’t + V
Day 6
울다
그 여자는 울 때도 예뻐요. She is pretty even when she cries. 그 = that, the
여자 = woman, girl
-(으)ㄹ 때 = when, while, during
-도 = too
예쁘다 = to be beautiful, to be pretty
너무 슬퍼서 밤새 울었어요. I was so sad that I cried all night long. 너무 = too much, excessively
슬프다 = to be sad
-아/어/여서 = since, because
밤 = night
밤새 = all night long
너무 울어서 눈이 부었어요. I cried so much that my eyes got swollen. 너무 = too much, excessive
-아/어/여서 = since, because
눈 = eye
붓다 = to swallow
울지 말고, 자세히 설명해 Stop crying and explain it to me in detail. -지 말다 = to not + V, to quit + V-ing
자세하다 = to be detailed
보세요. 자세히 is the adverb form of 자세하다.
설명하다 = to explain
-아/어/여 보다 = to try + V-ing
-(으)세요 = imperative (polite)
어린 아이가 넘어져서 울고 A kid has fallen down and is crying. 어리다 = to be young
어린 is the adjective form of 어리다.
있어요. 아이 = child, kid
넘어지다 = to fall down
-아/어/여서 = since, because
-고 있다 = to be + V-ing
실컷 울었더니 기분이 좀 I cried my eyes out and now I feel better. 실컷 = as much as one wishes
-았/었/였더니 = now that + S + V
나아졌어요. 기분 = mood, feelings
좀 = a little, please
나아지다 = to get better
울지만 말고 무슨 일이 Don’t just cry and tell me what happened. -지만 말고 = Don’t just + V + and...

해결되는 건 아니잖아요. 해결되다 = to be solved

소식
요즘 소식이 뜸해서 I hadn’t heard from you for a while so I 요즘 = these days, lately

그 사람 소식 들으면 저한테 If you hear anything about him, please be 그 = that, the

꼭 연락해 주세요. 듣다 = to hear, to listen
-(으)면 = if + S + V, once + S + V
저 = I (polite)
-한테 = to + person
꼭 = for sure, certainly
연락하다 = to contact
-아/어/여 주세요 = Do something for me.
그 사람은 미국에 간 이후로 Since he went to the USA, I haven’t heard 그 = that, the

1년째 소식이 없어요. 미국 = United States of America

가다 = to go
이후로 = after S + V, since S + V
-년 = year
