Code : BSCA 188
Name: INTRODUCTION TO THE INTERNET OF THINGS (IoT)
Credits: 3 units (2 units lecture, 1 unit laboratory)
Contact Hours: 5 hours/week (2 hours lecture, 3 hours laboratory)
Consultation Hours:
Prerequisite/s:
Description:
This course covers embedded systems, the Raspberry Pi Platform, and the Arduino
environment for building Internet of Things (IoT) devices that can control the physical world. This
course also discusses the importance of IoT in society, the current components of typical IOT
devices and future trends, IoT design considerations, constraints and interfacing between the
physical world and the IoT device. Students are also expected to learn design trade-offs between
hardware and software. Key components of networking will also be covered to ensure that the
students understand how to connect the device to the internet.
