By CAP IV I will use effective communication within the classroom and keep a tally in my journal of times when
discussion seems to be flowing and when it is not. My students will be able to retain information and discuss with
classmates as well as the teacher about subjects pertaining to the instruction.

Increase of test scores, and better understanding. Ability to discuss with students and faculty outside of the
classroom.

Students will be able to analyze and discuss details over Musical subjects, and be confident in their responses.

Analyze your Professional Growth:
For my first goal in my professional growth, I chose to grow in demonstrating the implementation of technology. I
attended two clinics at the KMEA 2017 Conference.
The first clinic was Special Learners get their mojo. In this clinic I was able to learn about the implementation of
technology when approaching special learners, specifically students with dyslexia. I was introduced to the world of
Quaver Music. Quaver Music gives students a technological interactive experience. The second clinic was Teaching
Beginning Band When You Don’t Live in Texas. I was able to see how a band director teaches their beginning band
with a program which shows beats relating it to math objects, such as a ruler, and pie charts. The program shows how
long a beat should last depending on value and articulation,

For my second goal managing effective communication within classroom. My students will be able to retain
information and discuss with classmates as well as the teacher about subjects pertaining to the instruction. I feel that
I still need more time to build a competency within my lessons so that students will be able to discuss the lesson with
each other as well as review. From observations I have found that comedy within your lesson can help conduct good

discussions, because it was relatable. I still need to research procedures over effective communication within the
classroom.

Summative Reflection: Attending these clinics will benefit me in student teaching because it gives me a familiarity to
Quaver Music, which is a tool I have observed in many elementary classrooms. With Quaver Music I will be able to
utilize components from the website to teach the elements of music to K-8, and develop a lesson plan within the
program. The program will apply to all learners, as it has visual, audible, and kinesthetic activities. The technological
Math objects program will help me in teaching a hard concept to grasp within an ensemble setting. To society now a
days technology is engaging and helps with the attention span of students. For my second goal I feel that I did not
accomplish what I want to, and I will roll it into my next growth plan. I will need to take more intricate notes on what I
notice from observations and how the teacher maintains simplifying the main idea. This is an area I feel that needs to
improve because it is the content knowledge aspect that drives the discussion.
