Model EC5111
Speed Controller
Quality System Certification
Isochronous / Droop
Features The AMBAC EC5111 meets the industry need for a multi-application, high
• Isochronous or Droop performance engine speed controller with switch selectable droop or
governing isochronous governing. The EC5111 coupled with AMBAC’s actuators
provides tight regulation and excellent transient response in a well proven,
• Rugged, metal case cost effective package.
• 7 Amps This controller was updated to meet the European Community EMC
continuous output Directive requirements. It therefore has excellent reliability with respect to
current electrical transients.
• Reverse polarity An isochronous controller, capable of ±0.25% speed regulation, the
protected EC5111 can be switched into droop mode simply by connecting the two
• Remote variable speed terminals 4 & 5. The internal DROOP pot allows setting droop from 40 to
capability 400 Hz per Amp of actuator current.
• Vibration and moisture Suitable for supplying a continuous output current of 7 Amps, the
protected EC5111 has a current limiting feature which allows actuator transients of
up to 12
• Transient voltage Amps.
protected, meets EMI These units are packaged in a rugged, nonconductive case and potted to
requirements for EC provide environmental protection. Every unit is electrically tested before
• Load sharing compatible and after encapsulation and meets AMBAC’s traditional high standards for
quality and long-term reliability.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Governor is Inoperative or Throttle Does Not Move
If the engine governing system does not function properly, use the following steps to determine the cause. Use a standard
VOM and observe proper polarity.
*Refer to schematic on data sheet
Unsatisfactory Performance
If the governing system functions poorly, perform the following tests.
