Biome PowerPoint Presentation Project – Agriculture Biology Dickinson

Purpose:
1. Students will understand the different components of the biomes presented.
2. Students will research a biome and develop a Google Presentation.

Time frame:
You will be given 5 class periods to complete this project. You and your group will present your
project on an assigned day.

Materials:
Computer/ tablet, notebook paper, pencil, reference books, science text, and The Internet

The Task:
You will work with your group to create a presentation about a biome.
Each person will be responsible for their own biome and requirements for that biome. You
presentation should be 10-15 minutes in duration.

Procedure:

1. You will be assigned a specific biome and presentation date to present on

2. Five class periods with computers will be used to conduct research on your biome.
3. Create a world map slide showing the location of the biome. (Google Maps, Google Earth, etc.
4. Create a climate slide(s) for your biome. Include the average yearly rainfall and, high and low
temperatures. (graphs & charts should be included with text)
5. Create 2-4 slides of the autotrophs (vegetation) that can be found in your biome. You should
have 6 - 9 different species with photos.
6. Create 2-4 slides of the heterotrophs (animals) that can be found in your biome include any
endangered species. You will need 8 - 11 different species with photos.
7. Create 2-3 slides with any interesting facts you discovered about your biome.
8. Create a food web based upon the organisms you identified above. Be able to explain the flow
of energy from each level and label the producers, primary consumers, secondary consumers,
tertiary consumers, etc.
9. Create a slide(s) that indicates humans influence (causes and effects) on the biome.
10. Create a Resources Used slide that lists all the websites, books used to construct your Goggle
Slides presentation (natural resources-fossil fuels, energy, plants, animals, water, minerals, etc)
11. Organize your Google slides and prepare for your presentation using an appropriate screen
design, graphics, animations and embedded short video clips (no more than one minute)(video
clip is for Bonus Points)
12. Google Slides Presentation should be shared with all group members and Mr. Dickinson
(tylerallendickinson@gmail.com)
13. You will prepare a quiz to give to your classmates on the day of your presentation. This quiz
should be 5-10 questions long and must be approved by Mr. Dickinson before submission.
14. To earn extra points, your team may construct a model of their ecosystem (show box, 3-D
model, or an activity to engage the class
15. You and your group will all present your presentation.
