veranda on apartment
Introduction
Open space of apartment such as balconies, terrace and veranda are an important open space of the apartment
building as the room of the apartment. These rooms are main important rooms of apartment. The is true for also open
space of apartment. Balconies, terrace and veranda are an important rooms types of apartment in this case study
document their is the list of lack of these open space such as balconies, terrace and veranda of Ethiopians apartment
building in nekemte town. In nekemte town their is an apartment without such open space specially balconies and
terrace. The apartment in nekemte town located at the left side of the Addis Ababa road to the
center of the town and near of wollega university nekemte campus is effected by these problem.
The objective aim of this case study is to answer the problem follows through lack of open space of
apartment building.

Background
Apartment building should have to open space, balconie, terrace and veranda. Because their are the most important
rooms types of the apartment building. The lack of these open space is counted as the great problem of nekemte town
apartment building. These problems can be exist because of various cases. It may be:
Lack of the space;In the town their may be lack of land for building. Due to this the town administration limit the
land or space for such types of construction or apartment building.
Economy;Economy is also can be a source of these problems. While their is a shortage of a budget, such open space
may be removed out to distribute the construction.
Impact of designer;Designer has a great impact on any types of buildings. For also the existed problems the
designers is responsible. In efficient designer effect the apartment building in dangerous ways by making an
apartment building useless and aesthetic less.

Not only this is enough for source of these problems, their may be other many cases. However from these listed cases
above the designer problem is the one which should have gate more affection and more consideration, specially for
the apartment building will design at the future. Lack of open space can solve by using space properly. As well as the
economy problem can also the same things it can solved.
Their is certain open space on nekemte apartment building while it is neither terrace nor balcony.
It is just used for horizontal circulation. Such types of space is not used as balcony and terrace.
Because their is noise disturbances on it. It used for only circulation not for recreation and other

Lack of open space of apartment such as balconies, terrace and veranda have an impact on the users.for example lack
of balconies affect the users. Balcony gardes are in some ways the perfect out door space, convenient, big enough to
sit on hope fully but not so bigger aa to create a real interested out side. But if their is no balcony within the
apartment the users doesn't access to see out side fully as they need unless through window and doorsBalcony can
provide various benefits from the aspect of socially, psychologically and terrace environmentally. Balcony is the
small recreation are the users access within their apartment building. So if their is lack balcony their also lack of
recreation within apartment building.
The same thing for also terrace and veranda. Because they have several benefit like balcony, so if their is lack of
these terrace and veranda, their is no benefits of them listed above. This is counted as impact on the users.
For these problems their is appropriate responsible body. The first responsible body is the designer .a designer have a
great role to design efficient apartment building or in efficient apartment building. Their may be other many
responsible body such as town administration and construction manager. But the greatest responsible is the designer
because he or she is the head of the construction.

The proposed solution
To solve such types of problems by using the efficient designer, design efficient apartment or full filled apartment
building for the future apartment building. It is difficult to make balcony on the existing apartment.
For example an effective nekemte apartment building is difficult to solve by making these open space within
apartment. May be can make unsafe veranda additional at the ground floor. But it is not the correct correction ways.
The correct way to solve such types of problems is just done for the future.
While the problem of the effected apartment building solved in right ways, at the same time many problems specially
related within these problems are solved. For example problems of natural ventilation, daylight, view of an apartment
building and aesthetic value of the apartment building as well as environment and city are also improved. It so further
work is needed to succeed these all elements to make full fill criteria of apartment building.
The effected nekemte apartment building is very different from the efficient apartment building even within the

Recommendation
To achieve the proposed solution, telling the correction ways is not enough. It is very large process and need heavy
criteria to achieve the proposed solution. It need some care starting from the plan of the apartment up to finish the
Construction.this means the body involves in the construction of the apartment building should have to move by the
same way or stand for the correct and the same idea. Starting from the designer, construction manager, clients or
government the owner of the apartment building should have able to have knowledge about the apartment building
deeply. Then if they follow the same way and the correct ways of the buildings the efficient apartment building will
build.
