COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course (AC Architectural Correlation) is the study of connections and relationships
among architectural subjects including building technology, history of architecture1,2,3,
&4, theory of architecture1,2, & 3, professional practice 1 &2, building utilitiesl ,2,3,
planning, tropical design, principles of housing, and architectural design. This course
aims to strengthen the student’s understanding insubjects covered by the architectural
correlation.

Attributes of Ideal Graduate (AIG)

a.) An ability to apply knowledge in history, theory, planning, building technology


and utilities, structural concepts and professional practice in creating
architectural solutions.
b.) An ability to use concepts and principles from specialized fields and allied
disciplines into various architectural problems.
c.) Knowledge to prepare contract documents, technical reports and other legal

documents used in architectural practice adhering to applicable laws,


standard and regulations.
d.) An ability to interpret and apply relevant laws, codes, charters and standards
of architecture.
e.) An ability to apply research methods to address architectural problems.

f.) Knowledge to use various information and communication technology (ICT)
media for architectural solutions, presentation, and techniques in design and
construction.
g.) Acquisition of entrepreneurial and business acumen relevant to architecture
practice (basic knowledge on feasibility, economics/ finance, social
component, design, and construction.

LEARNING OUTCOMES (LO):


1. Learn the architectural manifestations from the beginning of civilization to
contemporary periods of development and the influences of environmental,
historical and socio-cultural factors that contributed to the development of arts,
buildings, structures and of human settlements;
2. Study different theories, philosophies, and works of great past architects and
relate the same to contemporary architecture;
3. Understands the types of construction systems, methods, and materials and its
applications and articulations.
4. Study the basic practices, principles, general design and installation of utilities in
relation to aesthetics, functions, and stability of a building;
5. Learn the role and legal rights and responsibilities of a registered and licensed
architect and the application of the various statues, codes, and regulations
affecting the practice of the profession in the Philippines; and,
6. Understand the concepts of macro-planning process, tropical design, and
housing development in the country.

On completion of the course, the student is expected to be able to do the following:

CLASS POLICIES:
1. UNIFORM: Students should come to class wearing the prescribed university uniform
(which includes the ID). Those who are not in the proper uniform will be marked absent.
2. ATTENDANCE: Attendance will be checked after a fifteen (15) minute allowance.
Those who will come after the roll call shall be marked absent, though they are still
allowed to attend the class. No student shall exceed six (6) absences, otherwise CHED
requirement shall be imposed- student shall be dropped from the class roster.
3. REQUIREMENTS: In case of student’s absence and failure to submit an assignment
or plate, the student should be able to submit the requirement within a week after the
absence provided there is a valid reason. An excuse letter from a parent (and a
residence certificate) or a medical certificate (in case of sickness) should be presented
upon submission
4. CLASSROOM ETHICS: No student is allowed to leave the room during class time to
buy any required materials or conduct any business outside the classroom. Silence and
order should be maintained inside the classroom.
