TOPIC OF LESSON: The Electoral Process

PRE – KNOWLEDGE: Students have viewed a video on the voting process. Students would

have an idea about the voting process from media advertisements

OBJECTIVES: Students will be able to:

1. Describe the order of the electoral process (Cognitive)-Understanding

2. Reproduce the process of correctly placing an X on ballot paper next to the candidate

of their choice (Psychomotor)-Patterning

3. Display the type of behaviour expected in a polling station on elections day (Affective)

– Internalizes value

SET INDUCTION – Time allotted (2 mins)

Classroom will be set up like a polling station. Teacher will announce the opening of the polls

primary school education and also, they would have seen pictures of the symbols at government

offices.

OBJECTIVES: Students will be able to:

1. Identify the symbols of nationhood (Cognitive) – Remembering

2. Appreciate the significance of the national emblems- (Affective) – Valuing

3. Interpret the colours of the National Flag (Cognitive) - Applying

Play a clip of Machel Montano’s song (I love my country). Have a short discussion on the

meaning of the song.
