NATIONAL SEAFARERS DAY

Anchored with the theme, “Marinong Pilipino: Tatak ng Kahusayan!”, and International
Maritime Organization (IMO) theme “Shipping: Indispensable to the World”, Asian Institute of Maritime
Studies (AIMS) partook in one of the biggest events in the maritime industry, the 21st National Seafarers’
Day on September 25 held at the SMX Convention Center.

Once again, the event was spearheaded by the Apostles of the Ship, in collaboration with
Western Union and hosted by the Philippine Nautical Technological College (PNTC). Various manning
and government agencies, seafarers union and training centers all actively participated in the said event.

Different insititutions such as Asian Institute of Maritime Studies (AIMS), Manuel S. Enverga
University Foundation (MSEUF), FEATI, PNTC Colleges, Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA),
Philippine Merchant Marine School (PMMS), Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP),
University of Perpetual Help – System Deltav, John B. Lacson University, Our Lady of Fatima University
(OLFU), Philippine Maritime Institute (PMI), and many more joined the grand parade located at the Mall
of Asia grounds.

After the traditional march, participants were then gathered to the halls of the iconic
convention center for the second part of the event where the thanksgiving mass and the rest of the
program took place. With one of the sponsors of this big event, Western Union officially announced the
Ten Outstanding Maritime Students of the Philippines (TOMSP) were qualified students who had shown
exemplary performance were recognized.
