MANAGEMENT PLAN 3

Self-Introduction

Philosophy of Education

As an educator my personal belief is that it is beneficial for all current and future generations to

be familiar with the second most spoken language in the United States; Spanish. I believe it is

crucial for our society to be able to communicate with each other. My goal is to teach my native

language to those who may be familiar, or simply have never practiced the language of Spanish.

In my classroom, my knowledge will be passed on to my future students, and they will also be

knowledgeable enough to pass it on to their generations. I want my students to keep what they

have learned in the classroom, and apply it to their lives; not just do assignment, or speak a word

just for a grade.

Growing up speaking, and practicing two languages in my home was normal to me.

However, I came to realize that not all homes are bilingual. I remember how beneficial it was

speaking two languages because we could associate with two different cultures with no

difficulty. We would watch Spanish soap operas, and then change the television to an English

news station-the transition felt effortless. This is exactly how I want my students to feel in the

classroom when thinking of Spanish-effortless. I want them to learn and understand the material

covered with a sense of “effortless”. I will make my teaching seem effortless, however, at the

same time give them challenges through the course.

Students will be asked to take what they have learned outside the classroom. It will be

their choice of speaking to other classmates, family members, or community. They will

explained what was learned, and have a special form for the listener to sign off, and include

feedback. This will not only make the student feel at ese knowing they have a choice of who to

speak with, but will also get the benefit of receiving a comment for their work done. This will

bring the students closer to their school community, and even become familiar with that person’s

cultural background. The school community and the school’s variety of cultures will be brought

into place, as well as my students making new friends.

My classroom will have a positive environment where the students will feel comfortable

sharing ideas, opinions, and their work. I will have them work in small groups, and change those

groups within the school year so that they have all have a chance to work with each other. My

classroom will have rules implemented that the students have created themselves. I feel that if

the students come up with their own “classroom rules” they will make them personal, own them,

and obey them. Students already know what is expected of them, and how they should be

respectful with each other, and their own “classroom rules” will give them all the sense of

ownership.

Students in my classroom will also be challenged. Depending on the level I am assigned

to, I will always incorporate a few items that “belong” to the next level class in the curriculum.

This will allow me to keep track and assess the students in their language learning process. If I

detect a student is not understanding the material, that would be the student that would need the

extra attention. In order to avoid the student from feeling they are being singled out, the material

will be covered to all the classroom, and the material that needs to be repeated-especially for

those in need- will be discussed to the entire classroom as well. Those that have understood the

material since phase one, could be used as their peer’s mentor, and be able to guide other peers

within the classroom.

Finally, it is with my best intention to provide an education, a safe place, and a sense of

community unity to all my students. Teaching them a new language, and applying it to their daily

and future life will be my goal. My classroom will be fun, engaged, and everyone will have an

opportunity to learn. Not only they will learn from me, but I will learn from them. A very

exciting time in my career since these statements seem very close to be accomplished.

General Procedures

Classroom Procedures

A. Beginning of period-At the beginning of the period, students will sit on their assigned seat,

prepared to learn for the day.

1. Attendance check-I will take attendance by having students answer an exit ticket

question using Menti.com. Students will respond to the question asked, and add their full

name to the response.

2. Tardy students-Students who are tardy will put their name on a binder that will be at

the entrance of the door, and follow the procedures that will be previously written on the

board. All this will be done quietly without causing a disruption.

3. Expected student behavior-Students will be respectful to one another, and to each

classmates’ comments.

every item on the desk, and not pick anything up without permission.
