Islam
 Buddhism Christianity
I was really happy to take this religion class with Professor Suzanne Jacobs where we

discussed Seven of the most popular world religions and these religion are [ Buddhism,

Hinduism, Jainism, Sikhism, Christianity, Judaism, and Islam].

i’m going to talk about three of these religions and see what they famous with and what are the

similarities between them. Theses three religion are Buddhism, Christianity and Islam and

considered the oldest and the largest religions in the world.

I'm going to start this comparison essay with the definition of Religion

Religion is an organized collection of beliefs, cultural systems, and world views that relate

humanity to an order of existence.

we can say that Religion is variety of beliefs which humans have faith on them, and all religions

want peace and love between their communities.

Buddhism

Buddhism is a religion that have a variety of traditions and practices and its mostly based

on teachings of Siddhartha Gautama, who is also known as the Buddha, meaning “the awakened

one”.

There are many different types of Buddhism, each of the different types believe slightly

different from other. Like the Theravada which is The old term of Buddha’s religion and

teaching, the Mahayana which is the great way teaching after Buddha which came after the

Theravada over 500 years, where they follow Buddha’s path and the last one is The Vajrayana

which is they believe that everyone is a Buddha but they have to reach that level of

enlightenment to know that and they are followed by the monks. But for the most part they

believe that Buddha was a man who saw suffering in the world around him and sought to be free

from it. Buddha went on to teach his beliefs for finding enlightenment and which are considered

in Buddha’s Four Noble Truths” and they are

1-There is suffering and it has a cause.

2-Suffering is caused by craving and selfish desires, selfish attachments.

3-Suffering can be eliminated by following the Noble Eightfold Path.

4-There is an end to dissatisfaction and suffering is to be eliminated.

All those teaching led the Buddha to what is called Nirvana, which is the final state of

knowledge in which there is no suffering, according to Buddhism. And along side they had the

same with Hinduism but it has a slight difference between them. “Karma”, the belief that

whatever you do, good or bad, is effective on how your future will be, but it doesn’t has

something to do with the creation or what you going to be in your next life or if you got caste

into lower level [Rank], beside the Dharma, which we have noticed being there in the Hinduism

and which has no difference in both of them, Buddhism believed that there is no God, and every

existence has a cause that made it happen, and Buddha is a highly person who knew how to find

the way to enlightenment and the end of suffer, because human problem was to him is

“Suffering”, beyond that, Buddhism had to Meditate through the day as daily activity, and which

leads them to release of their thoughts and own problem, and focus only on what themselves,

their own inside human and soul, to over-control their body by their mind.

My conclusion on Buddhism is a religion that belief of existing power which led to the creation

of the universe every person has a suffering through his life and they have to face their fears and

go through chain of reincarnation to reach the state of Nirvana.

Christianity
Christianity is the largest religion in the world. Originally found in Levant which is now

called Palestine and Israel, it was at some point a part of Judaism religion. Christianity based on

the life and teachings of Jesus Christ how is also known as Messiah.

Christianity is a Monotheism religion, which is believing in only one God, a contrast of

Polytheism in which believing in many different type of God and Goddess

Christianity main beliefs:

1. There is only one God

2. The Holy Spirit

3. Jesus “The Son of God”

Based on these beliefs, Christianity stands their religion on one and only God who has revealed

himself to the world in three ways: in creation, in Bible, in Jesus. He created the universe with

perfection and it was never an accident. The unseen supernatural world is real as the physical

world, the Bible reflect the truth and moral character of God, He replaced the covenant with the

Judaism, with a new covenant as it become the Bible and the contract with God in the point of
Christians, also by being in form of Jesus which he is the savoir and the Son of God also know as

“the Messiah”, and he will returning and resurrected save everyone who was in his side and

working with his beliefs and teaching, all Christians must follow the law and the covenant which

is the Bible, Going to the church was like a connection they make with God, and relief from

stress and pounding thanking the God and all His giving and blessing to them, some people

donate money, so trying to help, trying of making them good and find the right way to them, by

giving instruction and what should do, what not. Their practice varies by denomination, but they

all include the Sunday worship and services and it’s done in Church, which is the worship place

for Christians, quiet, beautiful design place and spiritual makes a good connection with the

religion. There are different types of Christianity [Catholic, Orthodox, LDS and many more], but

still among all different types of Christians they all have the same common relation with God

and the same bond.

My conclusion on is that Christianity is a Monotheism religion and also its one of the Book

religions, that comes with a Word of God which is written in the Bible. believing in one God

and Jesus Christ as his Son.

Islam
Islam is the second largest religion in the world, it comes after Christianity. Islam was

found in Mecca, which is in Saudi Arabia. based on the Word of God in the Qur’an and the

teaching of prophet Muhammed. Islam is a Monotheism religion too that beliefs in one God.

Islam is the last religion to the people of the Book, continuing and ending the message of God to

human beings.

Islam beliefs stand for one God, the creator of the universe and what’s in it, being obedient to

His will and rules, which is called the Sharia. We all bounded to these rules that God created,

another belief is that Muhammad is his prophet, and he is the last prophet that was sent from

God, as Muslims belief and Islam tells, he carried the word of God to humans and was reached

by the Angel Gabriel, Islam law is to pray five times a day on a set times of the day. The word

Islam mainly means Submission to God. Islam religion comes with Five Pillars, which they work

as the spain of Islam, the Five Pillars which are

1. Shahada or Faith which state’s that there is no God but Allah and Muhammad is his

prophet.

2. Salat or prayer which is the Five prayer of the day that Muslims do.

3. Sawm or fasting which is fasting during the month of Ramadan.

4. Zakat or charity which is giving food and money to people who in need for it

5. Hajj or pilgrimage which is pilgrimage to Mecca to visit Kaaba, the house of God and

worship place for Muslims.

There is different type of Muslims based of some differences on the ideas and some

beliefs and they are Sunni and Shi’a, and they come from the same root of Islam but some

different perspective about Islam.

My conclusion on Islam is a Monotheism religion as Christianity, believes in one God as the

creator of the universe, follow the teaching of prophet Mohammed and the Word of God in

Qur’an. They also believe in all prophets and the Books for the other two religions which are

Christianity and Judaism.

Islam, Christianity and Buddhism

Christianity, Islam and Buddhism share some good similarities. The three big religions all

believe in life after death, and also they all have a pretty good set of morals to live by and teach

them how to live and obey their religion. The three religions have had a preacher or creater like

Jesus in Christianity, Muhammad in Islam, and Gautama Buddha in Buddhism.

My final Conclusion is that every religion i’ve been through this semester stated their

own beliefs and ideas of how they view the world, how they view God and who created the

world. I would like to that all religions share some the amazing things that put this world

together and maybe they have many differences, but we all stand on the same planet and live

together no matter what your beliefs are, we all are should live together in peace and practice our

religions and beliefs freely with no fights or wars between us, we should teach ourselves to be

nice to each other and have a wonderful life full of happiness and peace which is what our

religions and books trying to make us do. This was a great assignment to work on and im glad

that i took this world religion class where I learned some great things about different religions

out there that I didn't know about before.
