Orange sensory writing

On 18 January 2018, I entered to the 302 classroom with the passion of what we were going

to do. The class started by Mr. Bishop introducing about the activity. The teacher asked students to

draw 5 organs on the board in front of the room which are a nose, ears, eyes, a tongue, and hands

reflecting 5 senses of smell, sound, sight, taste, and touch. Then, he asked, “What are the

differences between sense and sensory?” I noticed the bulbs on the table that were arranged in the

new ways. I was really curious on what we the activity was about. He distributed oranges to each

table and let students meditating to observe the orange that was lighted by the bulb for 1 minute.

Honestly, I felt really sleepy on the period of meditation. After that, he told us to draw a pictures of

an orange on an A4 paper with a pencil and an eraser for 15 minutes. I discovered that there were

several marks on the bumpy skin of the fruit which make me feel rough when I touched. I finished

drawing and shadowing before the time was up. He let the pupils observed others’ works and asked

my classmate to write the sensory that we noticed during the meditation period on the white board.

From this new activity, I though thatI made inexperienced observations which are some

surroundings that I never noticed them before: the sound of air-conditioners, footsteps from people

outside the classroom, and sigh sound from my friends. I understood things around me differently

because I noticed the small or even tiny changes that I had never seen before.
