Water Resources Engineering is that branch of civil

engineering concerned with maximizing the social and
economic benefit associated with the world’s water
resources while minimizing the adverse environmental
impacts due to modifications to the natural environment.

Hydrology Applied Hydrology (Surface Water Hydrology)
 is a branch of Earth Science.  Hydrologic Processes – describe the scientific principles governing
hydrologic phenomena
 treats all phases of the earth's water
 Hydrologic Analysis – emphasize on computational methods in
hydrology for specific tasks such as rainfall‐runoff modeling, flow
 the assessment, development, utilization and routing, and analysis of extreme events
management of the water resources, of any region
is being increasingly realized at all levels.  Hydrologic Design – focuses on the risks inherent in hydrological
design, selection of design storms, and calculation of design flows.
 1965‐1974 International Hydrological Decade
intensive efforts in hydrologic education research, development of  Practical applications of hydrology: water supply, wastewater
analytical techniques and collection of hydrological information were treatment and disposal, irrigation, drainage, hydropower
promoted on a global basis in universities, research institutions, and generation, flood control, navigation, erosion and sediment control,
