 ABSTRACT

This research study aims to develop an approach to understand the nature of betrayal and

problems in the friendship bond. The study endeavor its best to represent a new perspective to

look at the theme of the novel in a different way. This thesis analyses the theme of betrayal in

friendship between master and servant, in novel, Kite Runner by Khalid Hosseini. It reveals the

element of betray with in the strong bond of friendship which ultimately perishes an innocent’s

life. This study is a qualitative research employing content analysis method. The main source of

this research is a novel entitled Kite Runner by Khalid Hosseini which was published in 2003.

The data were some expressions to convey the nature of betrayal in friendship in the novel.
