Of all freshman and Sr students administered the NSSE in 2015 (787), a total of 616 responded to the

question of parent’s educational attainment and their personal educational aspirations. 48.2% of these

students stated that their parents had completed a bachelor’s degree or higher while 96.1% of the

students aspire to complete a bachelor or higher during their educational journey. Of the responding

students, an astounding 51.8% (319) also identified as first-generation students meaning that neither

parent, or person who raised them, had completed a bachelor or higher degree. Considering all

students responding, 51.8% of their parents had completed an associate degree or lower while 4.7%

(29) of those had not completed high school.

Of the students who responded, 617 of them responded about hours that they work either on or off

campus for financial benefit. Of these students, 36% work off campus with 11.6% of these working more

than 30 hours per week. Another 21.1% work on campus were 11.9% of them work 10 hours or less per

week.
