OPERATION MOONSHOT NAPA

Napa Valley Environmental Solutions

“GO CLEAN, GO GREEN”

April 25, 2017-May 14,2017
Proposal number:795-3941
OPERATION MOONSHOT NAPA

Objective

We as concerned members of the community feel as though in order to ensure a livable future we should be
weary about our environmental footprint, but we know that not everyone is properly educated on the effects they
have on the world around them. We are hoping to receive funding to host a community event in which we as a
community congregate to educate and directly impact the environment by updating inefficient technologies,
cleaning littered areas, and hopefully prevent future pollutions. An example of this is centralizing on what buildings
are still utilizing incandescent light bulbs, high flow water dispensers, etc.. Though difficult we would try to
implement low emission transportation methods which can also promote more accessible & cleaner forms of
transportation in the community, such as riding the bus or walking.

Background
The issue is the further buildup of emissions and pollution in our community that would affect the way of not only
our life, but our future generations. At the rate that we are going with pollution we are going to make the human
race go extinct and have the planet be inhabitable.

Summary
Why are you doing this project? We are doing this because we care about much more than ourselves, but about
our future and the health of our planet.

What will you be doing? Our mission is to educate, and inform our community about the effects we have on the
environment. Not only that, but we will take an initiative by directly cleaning and improving current wasteful
technologies implemented in our city.

How will you be doing it?We will do it by assembling community members who share similar interest as we do.

Who will be doing it? We as a community will band together to tackle these issues.

Where will it be done?Napa County

How long will it take? This task is not definite timeline but is more of a culminating event that will ensure our
values are in place.

How much will it cost? Our hypothetical budget is approximately $2,000, but can fluctuate depending on the
attainable funding from local coalitions. This also includes donations from participants and businesses in the
community.
OPERATION MOONSHOT NAPA

Our Goals
• Reduce emissions and pollution in our community

• Make our city greener through updating technologies

• Educate the community on how to manage their environmental footprint

Solution

We plan to host a community event in which we educate and directly impact the environment by updating
inefficient technologies, cleaning littered areas, and hopefully to prevent future pollutions.

Project Outline

• Brainstorm possible solutions

• Come together to conclude on one goal

Goal : To inform and educate the community about;
- Our effects on the environment
- Proper trash disposal (Landfill, Recycle, Compost)
- Incorporate the three R’s (Reuse, Reduce, Recycle)
- Eco-friendly options

(Also we’d incorporate monthly trash clean ups.)

• Set a calendar with benchmarks

• Set the Budget

• Set a project risk plan on how to avoid downfall

• Contact local non-profit organizations to join us in the mission

Deliverables

Deliverables include current surveys on pollutants such as in our air, water, etc. Our energy consumption directly
contributes to the pollutants released into the atmosphere as it takes a certain amount of resources to generate
this electricity, as shown in the appendix.

Project Risk Management Plan

Risks Description Solution

Surpass Budget There is the possibility of surpassing Trash Cleanup:

our budget due to an unexpected When advertising we will ask the

Medical Supplies

• First Aid Kit: Purchasing 4 just in case of emergency 4 x $4.87= $19.48

Conclusion
This project can exemplify a working model that can be implemented across several communities across the
country which decline the exponential pollution growth trend. Continuing to follow these efforts, while not
eliminating the threat pollution looms over us, will ensure that we are left with an uninhabitable planet.
