3.

4 Piping:

The Contractor shall perform all the piping works required to complete the Works
including, but not limited to:

3.4.1 General:

1. Survey existing piping systems and equipment to be demolished, and prepare


demolition and tie-point drawings as required to complement the Drawings.
2. Field check all dimensions on the Drawings prior to the Contractor preparing pipe
spool fabrication and erection drawings.
3. Prepare pipe spool fabrication drawings as required to complement the Drawings.
4. Prepare pipe support fabrication and erection drawings as required to complement the
Drawings.
5. Fabricate, paint, assemble, install, clean, blow, flush, and test pipe systems greater
than 50 mm (2 inch) nominal diameter so as to make the pipe systems operative
including the installation of all manual valves, control valves, and piping
specialty items.
6. Field route, fabricate, paint, assemble, install, clean, blow, flush, and test pipe systems
50 mm (2 inch) nominal diameter and under so as to make the pipe systems
operative including the installation of all manual valves, control valves, and
piping specialty items.
7. Field fit, weld in accordance with U283-1-037, assemble and install pipe supports
with location of pipe supports for pipe systems:
(i) for pipe systems greater than 50 mm (2 inch) diameter in accordance with
the erection Drawings and Specification.
(ii) for pipe systems 50 mm (2 inch) nominal diameter and under in accordance
with the Specification.
8. Assemble, install, clean, blow, flush, and test all equipment package pipe systems
supplied loose by equipment package vendors including installation of pipe
supports, manual valves, control valves, and piping specialty items. The
Contractor shall field route, fabricate, paint, assemble, install, clean, blow,
flush, and test all interconnection piping and pipe supports indicated as field run
on the equipment package vendors drawings.
9. Stress relieve connections to compressors and turbine nozzles to maintain critical
tolerance and alignment. Prior to commencement of stress relieving, remove
valve packing as required.

10. Block out, cut, or core penetrations through existing floor, wall, or roof structures as
required including close-in, flash or band, paint, and installation of firestop
where indicated. Provide penetrations in concrete tanks not already shown on
the drawings to the satisfaction of the Engineer.
11. Field route, fabricate, paint, assemble, and install all equipment drain piping to the
nearest utility drain unless otherwise indicated on the Drawings.
12. Connect to piping and equipment installed by others in accordance with the Drawings
and Specification.
13. Clean, prepare, apply paint systems on uninsulated carbon steel pipe systems
including valves, piping specialty items, pipe hangers, pipe supports,
miscellaneous steel, nuts, bolts, washers, shims, weldments and other
supporting, fastening or connecting materials. Touch-up paint damage incurred
during handling and installation. The Contractor shall supply the paint system
and the touchup paint system in accordance with the Specification.
14. Complete all destructive and nondestructive testing.
15. Clean and flush all pipe lines and pipe systems in accordance with Drawings and
Specification and including specialized cleaning and flushing procedures such as
pipe-line pickling, acid washing; caustic washing, degreasing, and the like.
16. Cold set pipe supports and piping specialty items.
17. Supply installation materials such as:
(a) Weld rod and fusion rod;
(b) Thread lubricant and gasket compounds;
(c) Joint compounds and joint caulking material;
(d) Grout and shims;
(e) Pipe shop fabrication drawings (spool drawings);
(f) Cleaning fluids and flushing fluids and equipment.
(g) Testing fluids and equipment;
(h) Wrapping and coating materials;
(i) Paint and painting supplies; and
(j) All other items not specifically identified as supplied by the Employer.
18. Supply and install piping identification labels which identify flow direction and content
in accordance with Norma Tecnica Nacional 399.012 and the Refineria de
Cajamarquilla color-coded banding system.
19. Obtain preapproval from the Engineer prior to substitution where documents indicate
"or approved equivalent".

22. Demolition
23. Demolition and removal of existing piping within the plant requires the approval of the
engineer and RdC. Removal of existing piping to install new piping or launders
require coordination between construction and operations so as not to jeopardize the
continuing operation. All piping demolished will be transported to operations
warehouse for storage.
24. Rework
25. Any rework as required by the engineer will be born by the contractor.
26. Additions

27. Additions as identified by the contractor must be presented to the engineer before work
commences
28. Temporary Piping
29. Any temporary piping identified on the drawings will be removed as per the schedule.
This piping is required to facilitate the installation and modification of some existing
tanks within the leaching area. The installation and removal of this piping must be
done to the schedule. All other temporary piping required by operations to maintain
operability must be presented to the engineer before work commences
30. Tie-ins
31. All tie-ins must be identified and scheduled through the engineer and RdC. In the
event of a unscheduled shut down of the process, all effort should be made to all effort
should be made to take advantage of the situation.
32. Insulation
33. All steam lines will be insulated to U283-4-006
34. Special Cleaning
35. Cleaning of the oxygen piping will be done as per an approved cleaning specification
