In this paper, we shall look at three different firms in different companies which are based in
Australia. The three industries are agricultural industry, medical equipment industry and the
travel and tourism industry. All the industries are very competitive with different companies
having launched into the markets. In each industry, we shall look a company to gives an
overview of how the firm operates and the challenges it meets in the process of its operations.

Resmed in the medical equipment industry.

This is one of the leading company in the world that manufactures machines, CPAP
masks and other products that are used in the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases
related to pulmonary and sleeping disorders. Currently, it’s headquarter is in California due to
the technology required in the production of the medical machines and equipment

Strengths and weaknesses

The firm has two major strength compared to its competitors. First, it has over 500
branches which operate in over 100 countries. This has enabled it distributes its products to
most of their customers all over the world. In addition to that, the employees within the
branches are experts who help the customers and organization and installation so that the
clients’ satisfaction is increased. The second strength is that the firm has high-quality
technology that helps in the production of the equipment at low cost. The low-cost production
makes the firm's products cheap thus attract more client that the competing firms (Lithgow et
al., 2008).

On the side of the weaknesses is that the firm has failed to distribute the resources in
some of the countries due to the political instability yet the need for the product is high in
those areas. This reduces its potential sales. Secondly, the firm has limited number of workers
who are not adequate to expand its sales (Lithgow et al., 2008).

Pestle analysis

The operation of the company relies on the political instability since it operates in
beyond the borders of a single country. Secondly, the firm has to work under the rules and
regulation that governs the production of medical equipment of various nations. In the
economic aspect, the firm is dictated by how the government of different nations intervenes
in the free market and the operations of the healthcare. The second aspect is the exchange rate
and the economic stability of the countries where the firm has branches which will determine
how profitable the business will be in those countries (Yüksel, 2012).

The success of the company will also be shaped social factors. Some of the social
factors that shape the direction of the business are skill among the population in the countries
as well as the composition of the population. A more educated people are likely to have a
proper business forum for the firm that one which is not learned. The rate of the technology
that the firm uses is also significant in determining the quality and quantity of the products to
be produced. The high the level of technology the better the quality of the produce (Lithgow
et al., 2008).

In the environmental and legal the firm has to determine the laws that govern the waste
management and pollution regulations in the medical appliances and equipment industry.
This will help the firm operates peacefully regarding the environmental and legal
requirement.

Jumbuck Pastoral Company

Strength and weaknesses

The firm operates in the agricultural industry with other firms’ posing similar threats.
Jumbuck has the advantage that makes it stay ahead of other competitors. First, the firm has a
good marketing strategy and producing commercial breeding stock which other firms still
struggle to attain. The second advantage it has over the other firms is the firm has embraced
online services and advertise its products on the social platform where clients can interact
with the customer care and get more information about the product. In addition to that, the
first sell its products online, and delivery is done within three working days a feature which is
not with other competing firms (Wilkinson, 2003).

Despite the advantages, the organization also has its weaknesses which make it
experience difficulty in the market. One such flaw is that it does not do direct marketing but
instead relies on the customers who are already aware of the product. This is a big challenge
since the competing firms try to reach the customers to boost their sales. Secondly, the firm
does not offer bonuses to the workers who do well in their duty. Thus, the workers are not
encouraged to be with the firm leading to a high turnout of workers (Wilkinson, 2003).

Pestle analysis.

The company is mainly operating in Australia where it experiences a relatively calm

political environment which ensures that the business makes maximum profits at all times.
Secondly, the management is familiar with the administrative requirement thus find it to
continue with their operations in the country. Due to the political stability, the country
experiences a stable economy with the exchange rate has remained stable for the last six
months. The success of the business is often linked with how the economy is performing.
Goods sales are also made in a country with reliable currency which does not fluctuate
continuously (Yüksel, 2012).

Australia has a large population that can sustain the operations of the firm. Most
citizens depend on the agricultural sector thus creating a potential market for products
produced by Jumbuck Pastoral Company. In the technology sector, the firm uses the modern
technology since the cost of acquiring technology is cheaper. A good number of machinery
used in production in the agricultural industry are either manufactured in the country or
assembled within the nation. Australia as a country has also made it very easy for their own
companies to prosper by making the legal system favor them. The rules that need to be
followed to start a firm with an Australian are relaxed thus supporting the operation of firms
like Jumbuck Pastoral Company. Finally, when it comes to the environmental protection, the
firm understands what is required of them towards caring for the environment. The
organization has been involved in the tree planting missions within the country to help in
keeping with the regulations towards creating a friendly environment to all (Wilkinson,
2003).

Webjet limited Company.

This is an Australian company that deals with the transportation of tourist from one
destination to the other both within Australia and other parts of the world. Its headquarter is
in Melbourne, Australia and serves over five countries such as Hong Kong, Singapore, and
North America.

Strength and weaknesses

The first strength is that the firm has automated its activities in such a way that the
client who need the services from Webjet just need to use their phones and get access to all
the firm offers. This has helped the firm to regulate its prices and products based on the
demand. Secondly, it has created a good rapport with the stakeholders in the field such that it
never suffers deficit even when the industry is experiencing low returns. It also has a strong
brand name that helps it sale beyond the borders of Australia (Tavares & Lopes, 2017).

The firm also has its weaknesses which have drawn it back regarding its operations
among the competitors. First, the organization has a very high attrition rate which taints its
pictures as a firm that cannot keep her workers for a long time thus most employees avoid it.
The attrition also cost the firm so much since the workers have to be paid large sums of
money before leaving. Secondly, the firm is wholly successful within its industry but has
failed in its attempt to expand to other sectors as opposed to other companies which are doing
well in other sectors as well. Finally the profit margin and net contribution ratios are below
the industrial rate an indication that the firm is not doing well in making good use of its assets
(Tavares & Lopes, 2017).

Pestle analysis

The firm abides by the rules and regulations within the travel and tourism industry for
effective operation. All the firms that operate within the sector have standard safety measures
that they have to abide by before being allowed to work. Economically the firm has tried to
maintain a low cost since competitions dictate that consumers will always go for a cheaper
option. There are many companies in the industry, but the small prices have made Webjet a
preference to the customers (Yüksel, 2012).
With the increasing number of organizations in the industry, Webjet intentionally
decided to develop a strong reputation with much emphasis laid on social based issues. They
associate with activities like building of recreational centers which pools most of their client
in the society closer to them. The automation of the activities of the company has made it
have an international outlook since most customers can now get access to the products
without moving. Finally, it abides by all the rules and regulation that pertains to
environmental protection (Tavares & Lopes, 2017).

ANSOFF MATRIX

The three firm have similar agenda, and that is to increase their customer. To attain this,
they have strategies such as product improvement, development of new products and
identifying new markets where they can venture into (Reed & Luffman, 2016). They are
continuously increasing their competitiveness in the market which help the product in long
run. Their products has regular improvement to adjust the changing market as well as enough
strength for new markets.
