The “Corpo Seco”

One of the most popular urban legends in Brazil is the story about a
creature who walks at night haunting children and adult that used to
mistreat their relative. This story is very popular in Minas Gerais and
people call it the “Corpo Seco”.

Although exists many history versions about this urban legend, the
most known tells that corpo seco would have been a bad man that used to
fight and beat in his mother. People tell us that he was so evil that after his
death he was rejected for God and Evil, becoming in a malignant creature
that used to stay stealth on a tree waiting for a behaved children that
walked forgetful near him. He punished all behaved children that
mistreated their relatives.

They also tell that his appearance is like a zombie, with his body in a
full decomposition state. Believe it or not, today many people swear have
seen the corpo seco once time.

However, this story is very common nowadays bringing on very fear

in who tell it as who had already seen.

For the other side as an education form to control the behaved

children, the oldest parents had known how to get this of a peculiar form.
Because of all this facts, they started to tell this story for their sons always
saying: If you don’t behave yourselves, the corpo seco will take you!
