Using iTunes U

Open the iTunes U app on your iPad or go to the address


iTunesu.itunes.apple.com to access the iTunes U course manager

Creating a course

Click/Tap the plus sign on the upper left hand corner and fill out the details. Without the details
you will not be allowed to create your own course.

Creating Posts

Posts by topic

• When creating posts, click the + sign and


select the topic you want your post in.

• A title is required for each post

• A message or topic overview

will be graded or not and if
students will hand-in a product
or not.

You can add different materials

store, your own iBook.

Bringing in students

In the Admin tab you will see the following:

• Enrollment

• Share your enrollment code with your


students or post the link in your classroom

• New requests

• You can choose to auto approve student


requests or manually approve student
enrollment

• Enrolled students
• Check out the status of your students and
some of their work

To publish a course

• Can only be done on the web


version
(itunesu.itunes.apple.com)

• Create a copy of your course


as a back up

• Click the settings wheel

• Click “add to public catalog”

• You will receive an email that a


request has been sent, your
iTunes U Manager will either
approve or deny your course
for publication on to your
institution’s iTunes U page.

Important Reminders

Affiliated accounts versus unaffiliated accounts

• Affiliated accounts are instructors who are connected to an institution.

• Affiliated accounts have unlimited storage space and can create unlimited number of courses

• Courses will appear on your institution’s iTunes U page

• Unaffiliated accounts are limited to 12 courses and a cap on materials space

Courses must have all important information before it can be published, courses must have the
following:

• A course image (600x600px)

• Course name, description, duration, institution, license.

About the Presenter

Alfonso Mangubat is currently the Diploma Programme Coordinator of Keys School


Manila. He has been teaching for over 7 years and his passion has always been in the
study of history.

Alfonso is also an Apple Distinguished Educator, class of 2017. As an ADE he has


authored the following iBooks: The Inquiry Cycle: A Guidebook and The Spanish
Colonization of the Philippines. Alfonso has also designed iTunes U courses to support
the iBooks he authored.
