• Site – ovary
• Duration – 7th week of embryo –primordial germ cells
• -3rd month of fetus –oogonium
• - two million primary oocyte
• -7th month of fetus primary oocyte +primary follicle
• - at birth primary oocyte with prophase of
• 1st meiotic division
• - 40 thousand primary oocyte in adult ovary
• - 500 primary oocyte attain maturity
• - oogenesis completed after fertilization
