Objetivo: emplear las expresiones «How much and How many» para hacer preguntas

relacionadas con cantidades, incorporando cantidades relacionadas con su entorno y su


vida diaria.
Let’s review: How much and how many?
¿Cómo preguntamos “cuánto vino bebió”? O “¿Cuántas manzanas Pedro se comió?”

How much wine did you drink? How many apples did Pedro eat?

Recuerda que vino es un sustantivo no Recuerda que manzanas es un sustantivo

Tanto how much como how many How much/many + sustantivo + auxiliar + Sujeto + Verbo + Complemento
usualmente están acompañados por el Según el tiempo en infinitivo
sustantivo por el cual se pregunta, por

Cuando se involucra la expresión “hay”,


ésta se debe utilizar teniendo en cuenta

Las respuestas a estas preguntas son sencillas, empleando las alternativas
vistas anteriormente para acompañar a los sustantivos, ya sean contables o no
contables.

How much soda is there in the fridge? How much bread is there in the fridge?
There is a bottle of soda. There is a loaf of bread in the fridge.
There is some soda in the fridge. There is some bread in the fridge.

How many tomatoes are there? How many eggs are there in the fridge?
There are three tomatoes. There are four good eggs in the fridge.
There are some tomatoes. There are some eggs in the fridge.

Subject – verb agreement:


Recuerde que con los sustantivos no contables debemos utilizar el verbo to be “is”; mientras que
con los sustantivos contables o expresiones de cantidad (bottle of / pieces of / slices of, etc) puede
utilizar “is” para singular y “are” plural.
