1. Course Description:
Description of the course (Relationships, Catering, Health and Wellness, Teen
Choices/Challenges, Fashion/Interior Design, Prostart, Teacher Cadet, etc.)

2. Course Objective:
Learning outcomes of the course. What students will be able to do upon
completion of the course.

3. Required Materials:
i. One subject college ruled notebook or steno pad notebook
ii. Pens/pencils
iii. Additional materials if not provided (depending on the course): aprons,
hair ties, etc.

4. Expectations:
I have one rule in this classroom: feel free to do anything as long as it does not
cause a problem for you or anyone else.

Expectations under the one rule:

i. Be respectful
a. Listen to others when they are talking/do not talk over
them
b. Respect other student’s/teacher’s opinions
c. Do not be rude/defensive/aggressive – even if you
disagree with something
ii. Be Responsible
a. Come prepared to class: pens/pencils/notebooks (hair ties,
closed toed shoes on lab days)
b. If you miss class, it is your responsibility to find out what
you missed and what you need to make up
c. Be prepared to learn!
iii. Be Safe
a. Keep hands/feet/objects to yourself
b. Do not use equipment for anything other than its intended
purpose
c. Know/learn how to properly use equipment
 d. Follow safety and sanitation guidelines
iv. Be honest
a. If you have questions, ask!
b. If you did not complete an assignment say so
c. If you made a mistake, own it

5. Attendance Policy:
It is your responsibility to find out what you missed and what you need to make
up:
 Check the absent student binder
 Ask peers
 If you are still unsure ask me – do not ask me first!
Absences unexcused or not – do not get you out of deadlines!
Homework/projects/etc. are still due on the same day/time even if you are
absent; unless you have spoken with me beforehand and we have decided
otherwise.

Unexcused absences:
 Students absent during exam/quizzes will NOT be allowed to
make them up
 Students absent during labs must complete a related activity to
make them up and have signed documentation: catering events,
community service, school participation, assigned essays/other
assignments, etc. Activities that will be suitable replacements will
be up to the discretion of and must be approved by me.
o Make-up labs must be completed the end of the unit, if
not, student will receive a zero.
Excused absences:
 Students absent during exams/quizzes will be allowed to make
them up. Please schedule a time with me to come in and
complete them.
 Students absent during labs must complete a related activity to

6. Grading:
 Grade Breakdown is as follows:
100% - 90% = A
89% - 80% = B
79% - 70% = C
69% - 60% = D
59% or below = F

Late work
 Late work will be accepted until the end of the unit with a 10%-
point deduction
o Assignments are considered late if:
 They are not handed in at the designated time (ex:
if I ask you to pass your assignment forward or
have them out on your desk so I can collect them)
 They are not in the turn in bin at the designated
time (ex: if I ask you to turn in your work before
you leave)
 They are not included in your interactive notebook
at the designated time (ex: if I ask you to open your
notebooks to a specific page so I can grade them)
o Assignments will be marked late if not turned in at the
designated time and will be graded accordingly.
 Late work after the end of the unit will not be accepted
