Rules

-There is no talking while I am.

-There is no complaining when asked to do something. If you have a medical concern please let

me know right away.

-You must bring a doctor’s note to class if you can not participate at all due to a health issue.

-You must come to class prepared(close-toed shoes only, no boots, skirts or jeans) and on time

before roll call.

-You must follow all instructions during the lesson, especially during the activity time.

-When something is set up for a lesson or activity don’t touch anything until given instruction to.

-During an activity in which we use an object such as a ball of some sort, only hold it during

instruction. Do not toss it in the air, bounce it, or spin it.

-Do not talk or move around during roll call.

Rewards

Individual

-Use words of affirmation (Using phrases like “thank you for...,” “your effort has been noted,”

“keep up the good work,” “I proud of…”)

-Use positive reinforcement.

-A safer environment to have fun. Let them know that their safety is the most important thing

and following the rules creates this environment. A fun environment will occur when everyone

is safe and healthy, which comes from following the rules.

Whole class
CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR HIGH SCHOOL P.E. 3

-Extra free time will be allowed at the end of a class or the week. This can happen especially

when we stay on or get ahead of the planned lesson.

-The class will have the opportunity to pick and plan an activity of their choice to do the

following class period.

Consequences

-The class will not be allowed to participate in the fun part of the class activity or free time if the

lesson is finished early.

-Instead they could possibly owe extra laps during that time.

-Students will lose participation points for that class period.

-A Three Strike Plan will be implemented in the class.

-Strike one is a verbal warning.

-Strike two is one of previous consequence and a meeting with me to discuss the

situation. The book The Educator’s Field Guide: An Introduction to Everything from

Organization to Assessment, the authors highlight this as a problem-solving conference, which

“helps student take responsibility for for his or her actions and find a way to resolve the situation

without losing their sense of dignity” (2014, p. 76).

-Strike three is a referral to the principal’s office or automatic detention.

Procedures

Roll call
CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR HIGH SCHOOL P.E. 4

-When you first walk into the gym(or wherever the school has them meet) quietly set aside, or

put in lockers, all the things you don’t need. These things include your backpack and any clothes

you changed out of.

-Once you have done that get into your designated lines that I will put you in and sit quietly

while roll is called.

-During roll, you will raise your hand and say “here” as your name is called and then continue to

sit quietly until further instruction.

Warm up

-After roll, we will begin each lesson with a couple warm up laps, Either around the track or the

gym.

-Then you will get back into your designated lines and continue with stretches.

-I will name and present the stretch.

-When I say “Go,” you will repeat the stretch in your lines.

Water

-There will be designated times for water after warm ups/stretches, after the instruction part of

the lesson before the activity. I will allow for other water breaks during instruction or an activity

but you must let me know.

- To let me know that you need water during an activity raise your hand and wait until I call on

you.

-If I do not call on you after some time and I am not in the middle of something you may come

up to me and ask. If it is an emergency, then also come straight to me.

Restroom

-A similar procedure when getting water applies for using the restroom, except I won’t have any

pre-planned bathroom breaks during class.

-If you can, please use the restroom before the start of the class.

-If you must use the restroom during class, please raise your hand and wait until I call on you.

-Again, if I do not call on you after some time and I am not in the middle of something you may

come up to me and ask. If it is an emergency, then also come straight to me.
