Vision
As a building leader, it is crucial that my vision is aligned with my district’s philosophy and mission statement. This vision will
be seen throughout the learning community through student learning and job embedded professional development. All
students will excel in a safe, risk-taking environment where highly effective teachers support them throughout their social
and academic growth. As a leader, I will distribute leadership so all staff members share their strengths and develop their
weaknesses. I will also serve and support staff members so they can meet the needs of all our learners and stakeholders
alike. My vision will be in place so that our learning community and families feel safe, fulfilled, and accomplished.

Sharon J. Hardy Elementary, South Lyon, Michigan 2011-Current

Designated Principal: In my principal’s absence I assumed his responsibilities to assist with students and staff. During this
time I gained experience managing staff, helping students with health concerns, and student discipline. In order to
maintain a safe and productive learning environment I would be visible for students and staff and would maintain strong
communication between my principal, administrative assistants, and families. This leadership opportunity has given me
hands on experience to manage and lead a building.

Teaching Experience
Sharon J. Hardy Elementary, South Lyon, Michigan 2011-Current

Teacher: Taught Kindergarten-Fifth Grade music in an extremely diverse setting. I differentiated instruction for
self-contained and general education students in a workshop setting. I also developed a curriculum for students
with special needs (CI, ASD, EI, SXI, OHI) to prepare them for social and academic success within a general
education setting. I supported school wide improvement goals by creating a culture of thinking and enabling
students to solve problems in my classroom and throughout our community. I constantly monitored student
growth by collecting data to drive my instruction. At Hardy Elementary, I fostered meaningful relationships with
all staff members, students, and stakeholders that made me a pivotal member of our learning community.

Holly Academy, Holly, Michigan August 2011-November 2011

Teacher and Interventionist: As a part time music teacher I taught Kindergarten, First, and Second Grade music
and math intervention. During my time at Holly Academy I developed common assessments and a general
music curriculum. I also provided tier two intervention support to classroom teachers as a way to help student
meet math benchmarks. I worked in a Professional Learning Committee (PLC) and with the PBIS Committee to
support school wide initiatives.
