Lesson Title: “Going to” Future for plans and intentions

VOCABULARY: no limit
GRAMMAR: Present Perfect for activities already performed, “going to”+verb for
intentions, plans
and predictions

AIMS OF LESSON: by the end of the lesson students will be able to:
- use will in order to express predictions
- develop and practice the productive skills (writing, speaking) and the receptive skills
(listening, reading)
- reinforce vocabulary, to promote discussion and to practice language in a particular
context
- use “going to” to talk about future plans
- form questions/negative statements using present perfect and “going to” future
OBJECTIVES:
A.Cognitive objectives:
a) to check and improve vocabulary,
b) to encourage students to talk freely,
c) to help students talk about recent events and future plans,
d) to give students more practice on pronunciation, vocabulary and the
structures taught.

B.Affective objectives:
a) to create a warm atmosphere,
b) to help students enjoy speaking English.

flipchart, pins, cassette recorder, strips, cards.

Teacher’s activity: T greets class and checks attendance

Activity 2
Teacher’s activity: - T proposes to the Ss to play a mime game and guess/predict what
activity is going to happen; T asks a S to come in front of the class and to mime some
activities from the cards on T’s desk

Students’ activity: - S comes and mime the activities


- the other Ss try and make guesses and predict the activity

Activity 4

Teacher’s activity: - T asks Ss to look the posters sticked on the wall


- looking at the posters and the words, the teacher elicits the target language by asking about
the activities they plan to do and the places they plan to go.
- T writes the title on the blackboard and the model sentence to present the grammar structure
used to talk about future plans
Students’ activity: - Ss look the pictures and make guesses about the places those persons
plan to visit and the activities they plan to do there
- Ss write in their notebooks and look the map-mind T pins on the flipchart

Purpose aim: to have a more relaxed introduction of the theme of the lesson

Teacher’s activity: -T asks the Ss to solve exercise A, page 55 in the Activity books; a group
of Ss solve the activities that have already been done and the other group the activities are
planned to be done
- T gives Ss a handout and asks them to write down their answers about the plans they have
Students’ activity: - Ss solve the exercise and read their statements
- Ss solve the task and, in turn, read their answers
- Ss write in their notebooks and look the map-mind T pins on the flipchart

Teacher’s activity- T asks questions about the characters they see in the picture in the
activity book – the Ss are familiarized with the recorded text by answering the questions
related to it:
Who do you see in the picture? What do you think they are going to do? What is the interview
going to be about?

Activity 7

Teacher’s activity T plays the CD and asks Ss to listen to it carefully following the script of
the dialogue on worksheet
- T tells the students that they are going to listen to the CD again and this time they will have
to answer a few questions they have in their Activity books
Students’ activity: the Ss listen in order to find out what the interview is about and what are
the woman’s plans
- the Ss listen to the cassette again and answer questions in the Activity book

Purpose aim: to check Ss’ ability to understand oral information
- to check Ss’ ability to listen for specific information.

Teacher’s activity - T asks Ss to listen to the tape once again and to check their answers and
see if the information they have is correct or not
- T asks the Ss to read their solved task
Students’ activity: - the Ss listen to the cassette again and check their answers
- the Ss solve the exercise individually and then check with the whole class
