Reflection: (What have you learned about your students? How will this inform future instruction?)

I offered this art lesson as an option for my students during work time (centers) at the art table. Only about half of the class chose to participate. They all

participated from start to finish, used fine motor skills, and observed colors mixing. I originally was going to use an eye dropper with food coloring mixed with water,

but I decided to change it up, so I wouldn’t have to spend any money and could work with what I already had. One issue that arose was that the Crayola markers

stained. I used markers that they had in the classroom not realizing how messy they were. I sprayed the coffee filter on the table thinking it would be fine and I

could just wipe the ink up, but it was not coming off. I did the rest of the butterflies over the sink. I helped students spray their coffee filters because it was hard to

press down. I think all the students enjoyed the visual art project and met all the standards. Some of them were bringing their friends over to show off what they

had made.
