Great Smoky Mountains National Park

This park is in United States, located on the border between North Carolina and Tennessee. It
is the most visited in the United States National Park. The park was Designated Biosphere
Reserve in 1976

In 1934, Great Smoky Mountains National Park is comprised of ridge upon forest called the
Smokies, with nearly 80 buildings.

There are waterfalls throughout the park, with larger falls like Grotto Laurel, Rainbow, and
Mingo drawing over 200,000 visitors per year.

You can see snowfall at any time during the winter. The Park weather is also dependent on
elevation. The base of a mountain can be 10 to 20 degrees warmer than temperatures at
higher elevations

Some 10,000 species of plants and animals living in the park and estimates say up to 90,000
species more than 200 species of birds, 66 species of mammals, 50 species of fish, 39 species
of reptiles and 43 species of Amphibian More than 100 species of trees In addition, the park
has more than 1,400 species of flowers.

variety of animals, 1,500 black bears, the park is a biologist’s paradise. Over 17,000 species
have been recorded at the park and experts estimate that there are thousands more to
discover.

Economic Impact

The park provides an economic hub generating over $734 million in 2013 and supports 10,734
jobs in surrounding communities.

Annual Budget

$18.5 million base budget in Fiscal Year 2014. Great Smoky Mountains is one only a few
national parks that does not charge an entrance fee
