Easy Questions
1. Find the equation of the line parallel to 3x – 4y + 5 = 0 and passes through point (6,7).

Solution:
m=¾
𝑦−7 3
𝑥−6
=4
4𝑦 − 28 = 3𝑥 − 18

3𝑥 − 4𝑦 + 10 = 0

2. Find the remainder, if 4𝑥 200 + 5𝑥 95 − 4𝑥 21 + 2𝑥 − 6 is divided by x – 1.

Solution:
Using remainder theorem,
Remainder = P(1) = 4(1)200 + 5(1)95 − 4(1)21 + 2(1) − 6 = 1

3. For what value of the constant k does the equation 2x + kx = 3 have one solution?

of lower degree. What is this mathematical process?

Answer:

5. Find an equation of the circle that is tangent to both the x and y axes, with a radius of 4 and
whose center is located in the second quadrant.

Solution:

(𝑥 − ℎ)2 + (𝑦 − 𝑘)2 = 𝑟 2

Since the circle is tangent to the x axis, the distance from the center to x axis is equal to the
radius 4. In the same way the circle is tangent to the y axis and therefore the distance from
the center to the y axis is also equal to the radius. Hence the center has coordinates (-4 , 4).

(𝑥 + 4)2 + (𝑦 − 4)2 = 42

(𝑥 + 4)2 + (𝑦 − 4)2 = 16
6. If a = cos θ and b = sin θ, then 𝑎2 + 𝑏 2 is equal to:

𝑠= 2
= 2
= 281
𝐴 = √281(281 − 195)(281 − 157)(281 − 210) = 14,586.21 𝑠𝑞. 𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑡𝑠

8. A ball is dropped from a height of 60 meters above ground. How long does it take to hit the

H= 2𝑔
= 2(32.2)
= 38.82 ft.
