“Priscilla and the Wimps”


Please answer the following questions on a separate piece of paper.

1. Draw a plot graph for the story. Be sure to identify the events that correspond to each
of the elements of the plot graph, including at three events found in the rising action.

2. Who is the narrator of the story? What hints are given in the story that helped you
decide who he/she is?

3. What do you know about the “Garden of Eden”? How does this knowledge help you to
better understand the story?

4. What effect does Priscilla saying she does not know who the Kobras are have? Do you
think Priscilla really did not know who they were? Why or why not?

5. When one of the Kobras picks on Melvin, he is described as “one of the Kobras. Never
mind his name. Gang members don’t need names.” What message is the author
trying to convey?

6. Explain in detail what happens between Monk Klutter and Priscilla at the end of the
story.

7. Identify two different types of conflict in this story. What are they (e.g. person
vs.__________) and explain how they are being demonstrated in the story.

8. What do you think poetic justice or karma is? How does it apply to this particular
story?

After the blizzard, everyone goes back to school. You are Monk Klutter, and you have
been trapped inside your locker for a week. The good news is you had plenty of
lunches you had stolen from other kids to keep you going. Write a diary entry on the
events that lead up to this point, and discuss what you plan to do now. For example,
have you learned your lesson and are you ready to forgive and forget, or are you still
angry and are plotting your revenge?
