The Power of Music in our life

Do you agree that music is important in our life? Yes I do, music has certain role
completing our day to day activities. Here are some reasons why music is heard everywhere and
anywhere. Music is a way to express feelings. When we fall in love, the kind of music
we’d listen to would be all about love. When we’re sad, we would go for music that is
melancholic in nature and immerse ourselves in the sadness. When we’re happy, we’d choose
songs with happy tunes too.
Songs can help us to memorize the last experiences. A favorite song is a powerful
documentary. People with Alzheimer with brain impairment, would remember details of a song
they were familiar with. For example, an elderly woman who couldn’t even remember her
husband’s name would remember the details of her favorite song; when it was played, how it
made her feel and things about the song that made it a special memory for her.
Further, music can unite people for a cause and changes the world. A song with good
lyrics and striking deep chord can stimulate the universal feeling of all people. We can see it in
the case of the famous and legendary Michael Jackson’s Heal the World. It can arouse humanism
of a lot of people in this world. So what would the world be like without music? It would be
lonely.

36. What is the role of music in life?

A. Music can unite people and make us rich.
B. Music can help us to memorize and express our feelings.
C. Music can express our feelings and make us famous.
D. Music can make us famous and rich.
E. Music can help us to memorize and help us to be happy.

A. Because different genre of music generates different feelings.
B. Because music is universal for human.
C. Because music can affect a lot of people.
D. Because music can brings happiness to people.
E. Because we listen to music based on our feelings.

My most valuable possession is an old, slightly warped blond guitar--the first instrument
I taught myself how to play.
It's nothing fancy, just a Madeira folk guitar, all scuffed and scratched and finger-printed.
At the top is a bramble of copper-wound strings, each one hooked through the eye of a silver
tuning key. The strings are stretched down a long, slim neck, its frets tarnished, and the wood
worn by years of fingers pressing chords and picking notes. The body of the Madeira is shaped
like an enormous yellow pear, one that was slightly damaged in shipping. The blond wood has
been chipped and gouged to gray, particularly where the pick guard fell off years ago.
No, it's not a beautiful instrument, but it still lets me make music, and for that I will
always treasure it.

provide total protection. They do not only protect riders from getting a worse road injured
accident but also from flying bugs, rain, sleet, mud, and other potential projectiles.
Second, wearing a helmet gives the raiders a matter of style. Helmets give the
opportunity for rider to express the image they may want to project when riding. This benefit
may not be important to some people, but to others, it means a lot and important. By choosing
the most appropriate helmet from various styles, such as beanie, shorty, German, and many
others, it can be an inherent crucial part of motorcycling and help riders feel more confident
when riding on the road.
However, the most important thing in wearing a helmet when riding is a matter of setting

A few years ago, distance learning was seen as an inferior way but nowadays even
famous and established traditional college and university are providing distance learning course
and it is generally considered a way to improve one's life.
However, people still argue whether distance learning give more advantage or
disadvantage. Some of them who see the benefit of distance learning will say that distance
learning needs no commuting. Of course it saves money and time that students would take.
Furthermore, distance learning can be done at any student’s convenience. Mostly of the classes
of distance learning are asynchronous. It means that students do not have to attend a lecture at a
fixed particular time and place. Students can review the assignments and do their homework

during off-hours or from home. Additionally, distance learning gives more accessibility. No one
can deny it. People with limited mobility may encounter the problem when they take traditional
class. With the online class system, the problem is absent.
Despite the many advantages, the other people will see that distance learning is costly and
needs complex technology. To attend online learning, student must have a computer with
possibly access to the internet. Admitted or not, such technology devices are not always available
for common students. Another disadvantage of distance learning is that it does not provide
immediate feedback. Unlikely traditional classroom, students have to wait for the feedback and
comment until the instructor has review the works and sent response to them. Most of the time
students will study alone. Distance learners may feel isolated or miss that social physical
interaction that comes with attending a traditional classroom
Regarding the individual’s learning style, some students are able to learn when there is a
live interaction between them and the available of accompanying teacher while others don’t
really need it. So before deciding a choice of attending distance learning or not, each student
needs to do a fair analysis regarding the kind of person he/she is.

THE NOTEBOOK
Nicholas Spark
Warner Books
Romance
ISBN: 0446605239
Reviewed by: Kelly Milner Halls

When Nicholas Spark sat down to write The Notebook, a tender love story inspired by
the enduring relationship of his wife Cathy’s grandparents, he wanted his readers to walk away
with a renewed spirit of hopes.

Bahasa Inggris IPA/IPS/IPS A-03 Hak Cipta Dinas Pendidikan Propinsi Bali
15
“I’ll never forget watching those two people flirt,” he recalls. “I mean, you don’t see that
very often. They had been married 67 years, and yet they still loved each other. I wanted to write
a book about that kind of love. I wanted people to know that unconditional love does exist.”
So Spark created The Notebook, the simple story of Noah Calhoun, a soft spoken North
Carolina outdoorsman who carried his love for the willowy Allie Nelson with him long after
their youthful romance had ended. He paralleled Noah’s silent passions with Allie’s haunting
thoughts – feeling she could not escape even after she became engaged to another man. He asked
his readers to consider what it might mean if these relatively happy, middle-aged people found
their destinies once again overlapped.
He presented a question all but universal in appeal: what would happen if two people
were given a second chance at the love of a life time?
Spark deftly answers that question. But it’s the inspiration drawn from his real life
grandparents that makes. The Notebook more than just a novel of flames reignited. The novel
opens and closes with an elderly Noah Calhoun reading aloud from his personal journals and
“Notebook.” And as he shares the delicate details, the good with the bad, it’s clear he is as
enchanted with Allie in old age as he was on the day they met.
“And that’s the legacy of the Notebook,” according to Nicholas Sparks. “When love is
real, it doesn’t matter what turns the road takes. When love is real, the joys and possibilities are
endless.”
