II. Configuration of liquid soft starter GZYQ for squirrel cage motors
The PLC-controlled variable liquid soft starter is complete with electrolyte tank made out
of polypropylene with thickness of 15mm, specially treated alloy copper electrodes,
polypropylene phase barriers, PLC controlled motor operated operating mechanism, pilot
motor, reversible contactors for pilot motor, lockable local/remote selector switch,
emergency stop push button, indicating lamps ( LED type), electrolyte level indicator and
digital temperature indicator each with an alarm and trip contacts, interlocking limit
switches for initial and final position and built-in short circuiting contactor of sturdy
design(for the starter above 2000kW, the short circuiting breaker is not included in the
start panel).

 The shorting contactor or circuit breaker is a separate switch panels (optional)
IV. Working principle of liquid soft starter GZYQ

A special liquid resistor is in series connected to the stator circuit of motor, during the
process of starting, the liquid soft starter automatically changes the distance between the
moving electrode and fixed electrode, and the resistance decreases steplessly and
smoothly within the preset time, when the starting process finishes, the liquid resistor is
automatically shorted by the power contactor, and the motor gets into the normal
operation. Its low starting current results in no impact on motors, load and power systems
as well as in no harmonic to affect the power systems.

V. Performance of liquid soft starter
1. Starting current
Starting current can be limited to 1.5---3.5 times the rated current, which is adjustable on
site by altering the distance between the moving electrode and the fixed one, by
changing PLC settings, or by altering the concentration of liquid;
2. Starting time
Starting time can be limited to 10—60s to match the starting time of motor to avoid inrush
current;
3. Smooth stepless starting

The liquid soft starter shall give very smooth stepless starting of the motor without any
large starting and shorting current kicks. The resistance value decreases steplessly and
smoothly, so no secondary impact to the motor or load is caused;
4. Remote communication
The liquid soft starter is suitable for interface with MCC and DCS. Siemens PLC is
adopted for remote communication with RS485 interface;
5. Comprehensive protection
Signals for protection against abnormal temperature of electrolyte, abnormal liquid level,
abnormal position of electrodes, over-voltage, over-current, phase failure, differential
(depending on the power of motors);
6. Interlock signals
Following signals potential free contacts are provided for rotor panel and plant DCS:
a) 2 nos. LRS healthy (ready to start)
b) 2 nos. Resistance maximum
c) 2 nos. Resistance minimum
d) 2 nos. Tripping
e) 2 nos. Alarm
f) 2 nos. Level OK
g) 2 nos. Electrolyte Temperature high
7. No harmonic
No harmonic shall be generated during or after the starting process

8. Software for predictive calculation of starting results
Soft ware for predictive calculation of the starting results including starting time, starting
current and voltage dip shall be available for review and approval by the user to secure
reliable starting.
9. Wide flexibility
If additional loads are connected to the same transformer in the future, the starter can still
successfully start the motor by regulating the starting current and starting time.
10. Intelligent functions

a) Finger-touch Screen display of live current curve, live voltage curve, starting
time
b) Finger-touch Screen live monitoring of the running of motor after the completion
of starting process
c) Record of motor starting and motor running history.
VI. Paint shade, IP rating, cable entry

a) The final paint shade is as per shade RAL 7032 or the shade required by user;
b) There is separate control and power cubicles with IP 55 protection for control cubicle
and IP30 for overall equipments.

VII. Ambient working conditions

a) Ambient temperature: max +50 ℃, min 0℃ (-10℃ for device with built-in heater);
b) Altitude above sea level: no more than 2000m;
c) Inclination of the ground: no more than 5°;
d) Be free from fire, explosion, chemical corrosion and vibration;
e) Relative air humidity: no more than 90%.

XI. Drawings and documents to be submitted

XII. Packing
Wooden case for shipment by sea and road, size of the case will be informed before
shipment.
XIII. Delivery duration

45 (Seventy) days from the date of LC or advance payment
XIV. Guarantee period

12(twelve) months from the date of commissioning or 18(eighteen) months from the date
of shipping at Shanghai Port whichever is earlier.
XV. Performance characteristics summary

Compared with reactors-based or thrystor-based soft starter, the GZYQ series of
intelligent liquid resistor soft starters have the following preferable technical performance
characteristics:

termination arrangement etc. as per approved drawings.
b) Physical check for component layout, control wiring etc. in the
starter unit.
c) General workmanship, finish, identification labels etc.
