Objective(s):

Students will identify, explore and graph characteristics of several different types of apples.
Students will use their language skills to write a short sentence about the apple they like the best
and why. The students will also use their artistic skills to color their favorite type of apple.

Learning styles:

Logic, spatial, nature and Linguistic-verbal.

Materials:
Apple writing paper, Apple coloring page, and red and green and yellow apples for tasting.
Apple books for the students to read during independent reading, and for the teacher to read
during group reading.

Concept & Skill Development:

In this lesson we will be talking all about apples. We will be discussing the different types of
apples, how some are sweet and some are sour. We will be doing a taste test to see which apples
the students like. In math we will be coloring apples to tape to the apple graph to see which
apple type the children like the most and the least. In writing the students will be writing what
apples they like the most and why. I will have description words on the board to help the
students with the writing. On the board I will write..... "I LIKED THE......... APPLE THE BEST
BECAUSE........." On the board I will write, sweet, tangy, yummy, sour, juicy, color, and more.

Guided/Independent/Group Practice (I do, We do, You do)

I will hand out the apples and have the students taste the apples. The students will color a apple
the color of their favorite apple that they tasted. As a class we will see what apple was like the
most. The students will come up one at a time and put their apples on the graph under the
corresponding apple. The students will then write out the sentence on the board and fill in the
spaces about their apples.

Closure:

Today we worked on the lesson plan of apples. We tasted apples of different colors and taste,
from sweet to sour. We then made a graph of the different apples to see which apple was liked
the least and which was like the most by the students. The students then wrote about the apples
they like the most. Using the example sentence on the board written by the teacher. The last
thing we did for this lesson was the students got in their reading groups and read one of the apple
books that the teacher brought in.
