Past Authoring Reflection

The first part of the revision was helpful in showing me if the audience was reacting the
way it was. The questions were also helpful since those questions allowed me to expand the story
by answering them along the way in the essay. First, I had to decide what questions were
relevant to my story. Those questions were the ones that got answered. I also answered some
questions that were not as relevant to the story but would be nice details to have or that would
clear up misinterpretation. An example was when I was asked about the school environment and
if the what kind of neighborhood the school was in. I did not directly answer this story since the
details of the environment was not relevant. I answered this question by explaining how the
classroom got to the conditions it was in the first place. The highlighting on the peer review
helped me to make sure that I have met the requirements of the assignment. After that, I focused
on the spelling and the grammar of the essay. I used spell check and Grammarly. I also had
someone that I trusted to proofread it before turning it.
With this assignment, I learn the process of clustering and freewriting. These tools were
very helpful in brainstorming and getting my ideas on the paper. Clustering made the
brainstorming easier. Freewriting allowed me to speak my mind on the paper. After that, I then
typed the paper judging what information would be typed and how it would be typed. The
reading on personal essay helped me to understand the requirements of the assignment. The
double-sided journal also helped me to take important notes that I could refer to while I was
typing. Writing this paper was a bit uncomfortable due to the reason that I don’t talk about
myself with other people. I am more of a listener, so I will just let a person talk about their day
instead of talking mine.
I think that the final product of this project came out better than I intended. I personally
never thought that I could write so much about Mr. Mull. I think that the most successful parts of
the essay are the beginning and the ending. It shows how I was as a person before I met him and
then show how I grew after meeting him.
If I could do this assignment over I would dedicate more time clustering and freewriting.
This would allow me to expand the story and mention other great things that Mr. Mull has done
to the class and to impact me the way he did. While writing this essay I realized that I can use
clustering and freewriting in my other courses.

Comments
I agree with you about clustering and how useful it has been! Do you think that one day
you will be influencing someone the same way Mr. Mull influenced you? Do you use the tools
that you have learned in this project in other classes and papers? I can relate to you when you
said that the peer reviews helped. I too went back and answered some of the questions that were
asked in my review.
Also do you think that writing about yourself will help you more in other ways? Or do
you think the only tools that are really useful was just the critical thinking tools? The clustering
and freewriting were very helpful when it came on expanding ideas and it's good that you were
able to write this paper even though it might've been a bit uncomfortable.

I also answered questions that people asked me in the peer feedback. I felt that this was
one of the best ways to revise my essay and clear up a few things. It's good that you are getting
out of you comfort zone and writing about yourself. I also used Grammarly to help with
grammar on my essay. It's one of my favorite things to use when I need help in revising my
writing.
