RECOMMENDATION

During our visit to Pejabat Pendaftar UTHM main campus, there are several improvements that
they need to do with fire safety system that available in the building. The improvements
includes provide fire escape plan, clean agent fire suppression system and fire alarm
notification appliance.

1. Fire escape plan

Danger can occur anytime and to protect human life from such unpredicted dangers.
This plan helps in saving human lives from instant dangers and accidental events by
enabling them with emergency layout and reach to emergency assembly point facility.

Emergency Action Plan

The purpose of an Emergency Action Plan (EAP) is to facilitate and organize employer
and employee actions during workplace emergencies. The elements of the plan should
include but are not limited to:
 Evacuation procedures and emergency escape route assignments
 Procedures to be followed for all employees who remain to operate critical plant
operations before they evacuate
 Procedure to account for all employees after an emergency evacuation has been
completed
 Rescue and medical duties for those employees who are to perform them
 Means of reporting fires and other emergencies
 Names or job titles of persons who can be contacted for further information or
explanation of duties under the plan

Routes and Exits

Include location of exit, assembly points, and equipment such as fire extinguishers, first
aid kits that be needed in an emergency. Exit routes should be:

 Clearly marked and well lit

 Wide enough to accommodate the number of evacuating personnel
 Unobstructed and clear of debris at all times
 Unlikely to expose evacuating personnel to additional hazard
 When preparing drawing that show evacuation routes and exits, post them prominently
for all employees to see.

2. Clean agent fire suppression system (HFC-2727)

HFC-227 is chemically known as Heptafluoropropane or Clean Agent Fire Suppression
System, which is a fire suppression agent. HFC-227 is a replacement agent for the
ozone depleting Halon 1301. This fire extinguishing agent is non-residue chemical
which can be exposed to normal extinguishing concentrations without involving any
risk of health. These fire suppression systems can protect Class A, B and C type fires
and has zero ozone depletion potential. HFC-227 Fire Suppression System
internationally accepted as providing an ideal fire protection solution for people,
property and the environment. Electrically non-conductive, HFC-227 occupies minimal
storage space. Its primary action is through cooling the fire and removing heat energy
so that the combustion process cannot be sustained.

When it comes to property, HFC-227 is a trusted choice in clean agent fire protection,
perfect where disruption has to be minimized and survivability of the business is
critical. It is clean, leaving behind no oily particulates, water or corrosive materials.
This virtually eliminates any risk of damage to delicate equipment caused by the
extinguisher itself. Finally, the environment is not at risk. It has a zero effect on the
earth's stratospheric ozone layer and has a minimal impact on the environment in
comparison to the impact of a catastrophic fire.

3. Fire alarm notification appliance

A fire alarm notification appliance is an active fire protection component of a fire alarm
system. A notification appliance may use audible, visible, or other stimuli to alert the
occupants of a fire or other emergency condition requiring action. Audible appliances
have been in use longer than any other method of notification. The primary function of
the notification appliance is to alert persons at risk. Several methods are used and
documented in industry specifications published by UL
Alerting methods include:

1. Sound (audible signals)

 3 kHz / ~3100 Hz tone (high frequency). Used in many current notification
devices.
 520 Hz (low frequency). Used in newer notification devices.
 45 dB to 120 dB A weighted for human hearing (higher decibels, in the 100 to
120 dB range, were common with older fire alarm horns) [Recommended for

2. Light (visible signals)

 15 cd to 1000 cd candela output
 1 to 2 flashes per second
