1. Dell
Dell expects the use of fast-growing, renewable organic material to help it
meet its goal of a waste-free packaging stream by 2020. Currently, 94
percent of Dell packaging by weight is recyclable or compostable.

During the 2017 Fiscal Year, Dell made marked progress on its
sustainability goals, establishing itself as an environmental leader in the
field of tech with successes such as exceeding its initial 2020 goal of
using 50 million pounds of sustainable materials in its products. The
company has now set its sights on using 100 million pounds of recycled
content plastic and other sustainable materials.

2. LG Electronics
LG Electronics USA was recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) with the Champion Award, special recognition for
demonstrating significant environmental, social and economic
outcomes that go above and beyond the requirements of the EPA’s
Sustainable Materials Management (SMM) Electronics Challenge. The
company received the Product Champion Award for LG OLED TVs,
which are designed to reduce environmental impact and to be easier to
disassemble and recycle.

design and labeled those resins to facilitate disassembly and
recycling.

corporate purchaser of green power, according to the U.S. EPA. In 2016,

world by nearly 50 percent compared with 2015.

Since 2008, Intel has invested over $175 million in energy conservation
and alternative energy projects at its facilities worldwide, saving more
than 3.9 billion kWh of energy through the end of 2016.

Bad examples

China's smartphone brands are among the least green manufacturers on the
planet, according to a new Greenpeace report, which ranks the biggest consumer
electronics makers by their environmental performance.

Xiaomi — often described as China's Apple — Oppo, and Vivo rank bottom of
the Greenpeace table, which has ranked 17 companies across three "critical"
impact areas. They are: reduction of greenhouse gases through efficient energy
use, use of sustainable materials, and use of hazardous chemicals.

Amazon is also ranked as "one of the least transparent companies in the world"
when it comes to environmental performance. The company gives few details on
sourcing recycled materials, and doesn't publish any restrictions on hazardous
chemicals usage.
