Presentation

1. PPT

PowerPoint introduces the concept of guessing. Students are asked to guess what
might be in some pictures. Students are then asked to guess some things about a man
in a picture prompting use of modals. Use of modals is highlighted and their function
explained. Students are prompted further to practice each of their modals by making
guesses about slides.

Practice

1. Teacher’s Bag

There are a lot of strange things in the bag. Students are provided with an object from
the bag and prompted to provide a reason that the item was being carried.

Ex: Show a loaf of bread.

Why does teacher have bread in her bag?

She might eat it for dinner.

She might be coming back from the store.

She might use it as a pillow.

Production

1. Mingle Survey

Students are each given a unique ‘survey’ with a situation on top and space for other
student’s names and answers. Students will take their survey mingle around the
classroom, asking their fellow students for a guess about their situation and recording
their answers.
Lesson #9 Monday May 7, 2018

Move through the class as the students complete their surveys and provide assistance
and correction as needed. After surveys are completed students can present their
findings and can be assessed for errors.
