The Great Gatsby is Movie by Baz Luhrmann based on the classic novel written. by
F, Scott Fitzgerald and published in 1925 by the same name The Great Gatsby. It discusses
many of the new ideas and changes that occurred after World War I. These changes in social
mores behaviors, clothing, women's roles, and extravagant living are all highlighted in this
novel.
As the film start, its shows writer Nick Caraway’s summer in Long Island in 1922, where he's
rented a cottage just next door to Jay Gatsby's opulent mansion. Across the water at the dock
of his cousin Daisy's home with her husband Tom Buchanan. The mysterious millionaire
Gatsby befriends him in hopes of getting his true love back Daisy. This story truly comes to
life when Leonardo DiCaprio takes center screen with his dashing smile and mystifying.
Gatsby is a man who has fought his way to the top. Once dirt poor, now he is drenched in
riches, Although he is surrounded by lavish personalities and wealth, he is empty inside
without Daisy. Nick, played by Tobey Maguire, reunites them again. DiCaprio is everything
great in his role charming, pained and even amusing at times. Carey Mulligan was a fine
Daisy Buchanan, Daisy is meant to be irresistible; someone Gatsby would fight to the end of
the world for his love for her gives the audience something to believe in. Joel Edgerton is
‘outstanding as the rough and slimy Tom Buchanan and Isla Fisher as his messy mistress,
Luhrmann’s version of “The Great Gatsby” with tragic love story of hope and deceit is just
that Great Eye candy; the set design is bigger than Broadway. Gatsby's house and parties
were very ostentatious, and there was no question of his wealth. As a result, we used lots of
opulence in the gilding of his mansion, We gilded everything from his customized Wurlitzer
‘organ to the customized ceiling and put his monogramming on everything, Front and center is
Jay Gatsby’s nouveau riche mansion, where gold is the order of the day
The masterpiece is the ultimate story about the showcase of Roaring Twenties, The Jazz Age.
At 1920 World War I has been over for a couple of years. Everyone is eager to forget the
somber clothing of the war period wear more luxurious clothing. The fashion is completely
different from the pre-war era, The young ladies now wear cloche hats, drop-waist dresses,
2lots of long necklaces, and menswear inspired pieces. In contrast, the older generation is
depicted as wearing the Edwardian style that was popular earlier in the century
The movie was highly praised for its beautiful costume design. The remake of 1974 original
Movie promises to have clothing that is even more exquisite and luxurious in this version.
The film’s costume designer, Catherine Martin who won a zillion awards, including three
Oscars for costume and set design, collaborated with Miuccia Prada and Brooks Brothers
to create pieces for the film. The film will help bring the fashion of the 1920s to a whole new
generation. The film is truly a visual feast. Some of the film's party scenes had close to 300
extras on set each one outfitted in his or hers own unique costume. To give you an idea of just
how many costumes that is, Brooks Brothers supplied 1,200 in total, And that’s just on the
men's side, Miuecia Prada helped out on the women's side, designing 40 background dresses
as well as some of Daisy’s costumes. It was fantastic about having the floral tassels on the
purple dress, or the fluttery skirt made of organza petals on the dress that you first see Daisy
in design by Prada. They were wearing real Tiffany's jewelry. And it was worth millions of
dollars.

Below are examples of 1920s inspired clothing:
Cloche Hat Cloche is the French word for “bell.” These fitted hats were decorated with
different kinds of appliques, feathers, and brooches. Cloche hats are still made by many
designers and are a great winter accessory.
Decorative Headbands These headbands were a
beautifull way to complement an elegant evening
dress, Like cloche hats, headbands came in a
variety of designs. Because of the general feeling
of luxury of the era, these accessories had gold
accents and were covered in all sorts of gems and
feathers. These headbands are still found adorning
the heads of many fashioners and are a great way
to show off hairstyle.Drop-Waist Dress: In the 1920s, after centuries of wearing constricting
corsets to achieve an hourglass figure, women started to wear clothes
that produced a boyish silhouette. Many women wanted to go out to
clubs and dance the Charleston as
well. The drop-waist dress was the
perfect garment to wear because it
did not require a corset; it was
Sees loose, and therefore allowed
women to move about and dance freely. In a light fabri
they're perfect to wear on a beautiful spring day. Drop-waist dresses accented with fringe or
sequins are also great to wear for a night out.
Statement Jewelry: Two things came together in the
1920s to define the jewelry of the period: Art Deco and the
discovery of King Tut's tomb. Art Deco is a design style
that emphasizes geometric shapes, bold colors, and
luxurious decoration The boldness of this design style is the
perfect complement to the excess and luxury of the 1920°s
The discovery of King Tut's tomb in 1922 also heavily
influenced the jewelry. Designers were inspired by the boy
king’s elaborate tomb, and as a result, incorporated gold
and large gems into their pieces. The women’s jewelry of previous periods is feminine and
dainty. The jewelry of the 1920°s is still feminine, but it is bold, The earrings are long,
dangly, and have interesting shapes. The necklaces are also long, and have pendants that are
chunky and appear in a variety of colors.
T-strap Shoes: For the first time, as hemlines rose, women had the
opportunity to show off their shoes and feet. T-strap shoes became
popular during this period because they were relatively comfortable
Do | to dence in, were unique, and allowed women to reveal a bit of skin.
These shoes still appear in designers’ collections year after year
