Subject: Report on usability tests results based on camel excursion instructions
Reference: Recap of the testing the functionsality based of instructions
Distribution List: Website Design & Research Team

This memo provides an analysis based on the functionality of the instructions on how to plan for
a camel ride/trip in Morocco. A set of how-to instructions were given to three individuals to test
its simplicity and ease. Upon completing the usability test, the participants were asked a set of
questions based on the test objectives. Furthermore, this memo will provide an overview on what
the results were for the usability tests including the strengths and weaknesses of the instructions.

Test Objectives
I had three main goals for administering the usability tests. They were to examine if the
instructions are easy and effective to follow; reveal any problematic errors in conducting the
instructions; and determine whether the instructions are fit for individuals who have never signed
up for a trip online.

Results

Areas of Strength
After conducting the usability tests three times, I realized that there were quite a few strengths to
them. The first is that there were very easy and simple to follow. This allowed all of the
“usability testers” to finish quickly without major problems. The second strength would be the
use of images from the site; this helped the testers as the website was very confusing to follow.

Areas for Improvement

There are many areas for improving the instructions and obtaining a more concise set of
instructions that will be easy to follow. The first area for improvement would be to include an
overview and provide a brief paragraph of information to let them know what they are getting
into, before allowing the reader to jump right into the instructions. The next area would be to
provide a little more information in each step and not use numbered bullets in some steps. I also
discovered that I may need to combine some of the steps together to allow the instructions to be
easier to follow and understand.
Questionnaire
The questions I asked the testers were as follows:

Closed Ended Questions

1. Where the instructions easy to follow?
2. Are there enough visuals?
3. Were the instructions confusing in anyway?

Open Ended Questions

1. Is there anything that needs to be added into the instructions?
2. Is there anything that needs to be removed from the instructions?
3. How can the instructions be improved?

Close Ended Question Results

With regards to question 1, all the individuals who participated in the usability test all agreed and
said that the instructions were very easy and simple to follow. For question 2, all of the testers
said that there were enough visuals. For question 3, all of the testers said that there was no
confusion with regards to the instructions.

Open Ended Responses

With regards to the questions, the participants said that some steps need be added because some
of the options don’t have a direct link to the packages for a camel excursion in the deserts of
Morocco. The participants recommended that I should consider removing the number bullets on
the steps and the extra spacing in between steps. They also emphasized that the instructions
could be improved by fixing a few grammatical errors and adding more detail to each step.

Recommendations
Based on the recommendations that were given to me, there were many things that I changed in
the instructions. Of the things that I changed is that I added a few steps in the instructions to
help with its ease and functionality. I also added an overview that gives a brief introduction to
the instructions so that the reader knows what they are about to do. After the overview, I created
a new section that would allow the reader to do a little research before jumping into the
instructions and getting lost half-way through. I also changed the fonts of the titles and subtitles
so that it would support the tone of the document. There are other minor things that I altered like
the bullets, grammatical errors, and spacing. Overall, there were some things that I preserved like
many of the visuals and steps as they are critical in the process of executing the instructions. The
alterations and preservations that were made not only allowed for a better looking instructions all
together, but it allowed the instructions to be easier and more efficient to carry out.
