To Whom It May Concern,

It is with great pleasure that I am seeking to fulfill a position as Middle Grades Math or Science Teacher.
While I am a science teacher at heart, I also enjoy teaching math. My experience working with young
adults, my work ethic and passion to inspire learners will greatly benefit each student I encounter. I am
Highly Qualified in Math and Science with a current professional license in Middle Childhood Education
Grades 4-9 and a supplemental license as an Intervention Specialist. Additionally, I have an OTES rating
of an Accomplished teacher.

My experience in the classroom as a middle school science teacher has taught me to facilitate rather
than dictate the learning process. I love to interact with the students to give value to the student and
support their learning. I am challenged to develop new and innovative ways to teach difficult concepts
to promote student achievement. I utilize the three-group model (station teaching) in my classroom
including distinguished lessons on cell structure. I find this approach reaches multiple leaning styles of
students and pairs watching and listening with the application of doing for maximum impact. I also strive
to incorporate technology into the classroom and have taken CE courses on the specific applications of
Google. I now use an integrated grading rubric, Orange Slice, to seamlessly apply grading expectations to
all students and I utilize self-graded quizzes to instantly provide feedback to the students in Google
Classroom. In addition to seeing each student succeed, I have volunteered on both the Building
Leadership Team (BLT) and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) playing a vital role in developing and
communicating our school expectations to my peers.

I enjoy sharing my passion with my students and bringing each lesson to life. We incubate and hatch
chicken eggs each spring during our lessons on speciation, natural selection and life cycle. The eighth
grade classes make water bottle rockets and the sixth graders design egg protection devices. Each class
then launches their contraption to test Newton’s Laws of Motion while the seventh grade students
compete in the Newton Olympics. The students look forward to constructing volcanoes when we discuss
the Earth’s crust, especially when we watch them erupt! And it is always a fun treat to make and eat ice
cream to visualize the changes in states of matter. I also have extensive experience with IEP’s. I enclosed
my resume for review and look forward to speaking with you soon so that we may further discuss how
my qualifications can meet the goals of your educational program.
