Not all of us could always be there, but overall we had a very interactive Mentorship project. On the
day of the first activity and peer session, Debby couldn’t make it for family reasons, but we made
sure that she could always ask questions. In the Facebook group there were also a lot of
conversations, and because our mentees didn’t seem to have much trouble with the courses, we
settled things mostly via messenger. I think it wasn’t really necessary to actually come together for
peer sessions when we all had such an easy way of communicating online. I think the mentees (and
the mentors as well) enjoyed the movie at Kinepolis the most, because it was really a moment where
you could just relax. There is nothing really difficult being a mentor, because our mentees didn’t have
any trouble. I think it’s more difficult when your mentees have trouble with a course and you are
really trying to help them trying to explain in the best way you can. We tried to come up with
activities that seemed spontaneous and not ‘made’, activities that they would really want to do and
not feel like they ‘had to do’. I think we had a good dynamic because, we as mentors also get along
very well and I think that reflected on the mentees. We don’t know why Lei left the group, she gave
us no explanation, but since she is a second year student taking TMD1, we didn’t really worry about
her.
