Vincent Van Gogh

Through a long journey, Vincent Van Gogh became one of the world’s most known
artists. Van Gogh was born in 1853 and was raised in Holland. Vincent grew up and chose to
follow his Uncle’s path at first by becoming an art dealer. He eventually became bored with this
kind of profession, so he explored the world of theology. He tried to take tests to get into some
programs, but even while he was very intelligent, he failed almost all of them. At the age of
twenty-seven, Vincent got into an arts program in Belgium, and he found someone to fall in love
with. Although, an end came to that romance and his heart was broken, pushing him to find
peace in painting. Van Gogh obsessed over finding love but was repeatedly left miserable.
Through all of it, he continued to paint. He found no interest in what he painted, however, but he
saw nothing left for him. With that, he also did not have much success with selling his paintings.
His first major work was Potato Eaters was painted in 1885 and was also a breakthrough point
for him, because it was the first time he actually started to have interest in his own paintings.
From then on, Vincent became more involved in whatever it was he was painting. He continued
to use his life as inspiration but made it a good thing rather than depressing. To this day, Vincent
Van Gogh is very well known and does some inspiring for us even today, rather than just himself
and his own paintings.

Frida Kahlo
Frida Kahlo was a Mexican self-portrait artist. She was born in Mexico City, Mexico, on
July 6, 1907. When she was a little, she and a friend were on a bus when a car suddenly collided
with the bus. With this occurrence, a metal hand rail was impaled into Frida’s hip, and came out
the other side. She suffered many injuries, but it set her up for a journey that helped her find
herself. During her long recovery, she started to paint self-portraits. She reflected on herself
through each painting. She let her imagination run wild and pictured herself in many different
ways. She is not one of the most well-known artists, such as Vincent Van Gogh, but she has still
had an impact. Her story and her paintings are a big part of feminist movements even today. Her
paintings inspire people in different ways, but she still managed to take her story, good or bad,
and help it have an impact.
