Module Title: CADCAM

Lesson Plan 2017-2018

Topic: Parametric Modelling Fundementals in Autodesk Fusion 360 Lesson 1

Lecturer Name: James Corbett
Date: 26th February 2018
Duration of Lesson: 2 Hours

1. Aims
The main aims of the lesson are to:
Outline the structure of the lecture.
Revise the procedure for logging in and creating a new design in Autodesk Fusion 360.
Revise top down, middle and bottom up modelling methodologies.
Reinstate the importance of planning the modelling processes. Remind students they do not start
roughing out timber if they do not know what they are going to make.
Explain that the fudementals of creating a parametric model are the same in Autodesk Fusion 360 as
they are in Solidoworks and Autodesk Inventor.
Demonstrate and direct the creation of 2D plan and elevation sketches using origin planes in Fusion
360
Demonstrate and direct students to utilise the sketch constraint tools to minimise the assigning of
parametric variables to geometry.
Explain and demonstrate the shape before size approcah to sketching.

Demonstrate and direct the creation, editing and assigning of paremtric equations to sketch geometry

2. Main Learning Outcomes and Corresponding Assessment

Learning Outcomes (LO's) Assessment of LO's
At the end of this lesson the students will be (Note: each LO has an assessment. Include a variety
enabled to… of types.)
