Dan lift technology plc is producing and supplying lifts by using three types of lift motor
products to local markets. There are three types of motor used for lift product i.e.
depending on that the type of motor used .These motors are:- geared, gearless and
hydraulic motors.
Lift (Elevator)
Dan Lift Technology Plc intends to manufacture and assemble the measure parts of the
lift such as:
Car , car frame and car frame accessories
Door panels and door frames
Landing door mechanisms
Counter weight frame and filter
Controller and controller box
Brackets and motor seats
Elevator or lift is a vertical transportation system (vertical vehicle) that efficiently
moves people or goods between floors of a building. They are generally powered by
electric motors that either drive traction cables and counter weight system or pump
hydraulic fluid to raise a cylindrical piston
Company giving two types lift service for customers
Traction elevators
According to electric motor they are traction motors are also classified in to two parts
which are Geared and gearless traction elevators.
Geared traction elevators are driven by AC or DC electric motors. Geared machines are
use warm gears to control mechanical movement of elevator cars by rolling steel hoist
ropes over a drive sheave which is attached to a gearbox driven by a high speed motor.
These machines are generally the best options for basement or overhead traction use for
speeds up to 2.5 m/s
Gearless traction elevators use low speed, high torque electric motors powered by either
AC or DC supply. In these case the drive sheaves is directly attached to the end of the
motor. Gearless traction elevators can reach speeds up to 10 m/s or even higher. A brake
is mounted between the motor and drive sheaves to hold the elevator stationary at floor
level. This brake is usually an external drum type and actuated by spring force and hold
open electrically a power failure will cause the brake to engage and prevent the elevator
from falling.
Hydraulic elevator
A hydraulic elevator system lifts a car using a hydraulic ram, a fluid driven piston
mounted inside a cylinder. The fluid is connected to a fluid pumping system (typically,
hydraulic system uses oil, but other incompressible fluid would also work). The hydraulic
system has three parts
A tank (the fluid reservoir)
A pump, powered by an electric motor
A valve between the cylinder and the reservoir.
The pump forces fluid from the tank into a pipe leading to the cylinder. When the valve is
opened, the pressurized fluid will take the path of least resistance and return to the fluid
reservoir, but when the valve is closed, it pushes the piston up, lifting the elevator car.
When the car approaches the correct floor, the control system sends a signal to the
electric motor to gradually shut off the pump. With the pump off there is no more fluid
flowing into the cylinder but the fluid that is already. In the cylinder cannot escape (it
can’t flow backward through the pump, and the valve is still closed). The piston resets on
the fluid and the car stays where it is.
To lower the car, the elevator control system sends a signal to the valve. The valve is
operated electrically by a base solenoid switch. When the solenoid opens the valve, the
fluid that has reserved in the cylinder can flow out in to the fluid reservoir. The weight of
the car and the cargo pushes down on the piston, which drives the fluid into the reservoir.
The car gradually descends. To stop the car at a lower floor, the control system closes the
valve again.
1.5 Use of elevator
Passenger Elevator
A passenger elevator is designed to move people between building floors. It is also
very helpful for handicaps that use wheelchairs, for blind peoples and for older
peoples who can walk hardly. It is very important in hospitals to move patients from
floor to floor.
Freight Elevator
A freight elevator, or goods lift, is an elevator designed to carry goods, rather than
passengers, freight elevators are typically larger and capable of carrying heavier
loads than a passenger elevator; generally from 2,300 to 4,500Kg. Freight elevators
may have manually operated doors.
Vehicle Elevator
Vehicle elevators are used with in buildings with limited space (in lieu of ramps) to
move cars into the parking garage. Geared hydraulic chains (not unlike bicycle
chains) generate lift for the platform and there is no counterweight.
Boat Elevator
In some smaller canals, boat and small ships can pass between different levels of a
canal with a boat lift rather than through a canal lock.
Aircraft Elevator
On aircraft carriers, elevators carry aircraft between the flight deck and the hanger
deck for operations or repairs. These elevators are designed for much greater
capacity than any other elevator ever built, up to 20,000 pounds (90 tones) of
aircraft and equipment.
Dumbwaiter
Dumbwaiters are small freight elevators that are intended to carry food rather than
passengers. They often link kitchens with rooms on other floors.
1.5.1 Power supply
Check the power connections before powering up the controller.
The motor cables must be at least 0.5 m (20 in.) long.
Ensure maximum separation between the power cable (line supply) and the motor
cable.
Ensure the reading of main supply voltage is similar to rating for the lift.
Applying input line voltage to the output terminals (U/T1, V/T2, and W/T3) will
damage the ATV71.
1.5.2 Ground and neutral
Ground equipment using the ground connecting point provided as illustrated. The drive
panel must be properly grounded before power is applied.
Check whether the resistance to the protective ground is one ohm or less.
Grounds between drive, motor and cable shielding must have "high frequency"
equipotentiality.
The company has many customers from public, private and non-governmental
organizations (NGO).
The public customers are hospitals (e.g Tikur anbesa, Yordanos Hospital), Federal
Ministry of Health, Ethiopia Map Authorities, Gehon Hotel, Ethiopia telecommunication
corporation and so on.
Some of the private customers are Friendship building, Yirga Haile building, Kurtu
international and etc.
And from NGO Sunshine head office, Real estate and so on.

1.9 Organizational structure of Dan lift technology plc.
In Dan lift technology plc. There are departments or sections for the quality and fast
production of lift. Each department has their own responsibility and accountability doing
every working action in the company.
CHAPTER TWO
During the four months working period as an Intern in Dan lift technology plc. I had the
opportunity to observe in each and every department of the organization. As soon as I
joined the company for my internship, a schedule of the internship program was given to
me, which consisted of the working schedule along with the maintenance departments in
which I would be working. The management of the company believes that an intern
should work in all the departments rather than concentrating on only a specific
department because, the main goal behind an internship is learning and that can be
achieved greatly by having an exposure of all the departments together. It is also because
it gives an intern a broader perspective of how an organization really works all together.
However, as my main field of study and interest lies in Electrical and Computer
Engineering stream of Industrial control and Instrumentation, the company has thus given
me an opportunity to work in maintenance, installation, production department of Dan lift
technology plc.
The section I have been working on and work flow in each section
I have been working on almost all of the company’s section, since electricity has a wide
application in everywhere of the company. The sections that I have been working on are;
Maintenance
Installation
Production
For the first two week of my intern I looked on the maintenance of lifts in Dan lift
technology plc. And I got knowledge how the lifts maintained. After the maintenance
time for two weeks I was working in installation and I knew how lift installation is.
Finally I work in production department in the production of main controller and
emergence board and I got knowledge how to produce main controller and emergence
board.
Elevator controller is the main (brain) of the elevator system so that elevator controller
must be manufactured and installed very carefully and with full attention because its risk
is very high and fatal
It’s the system responsible for coordinating all aspects of elevator service such as travel,
speed, and accelerating, decelerating, door opening speed and delay, levelling and hall
lantern signals.
It accepts inputs button signals and produces outputs elevator car moving, door opening,
etc.
The main objectives of the elevator control system are:
To bring the lift car to the correct floor.
To minimize travel time.
To maximize passenger comfort by providing a smooth ride
To accelerate decelerate and travel within safe speed limits
BG15 card
Motor Drive
Transformer (step down)
Rectifiers
Relays
Contactors and
fuse
BG 15 Card
This card is the most important part of the controller which analyse and performs all the
input data and the output commands. BG 15 card is microprocessor based controller
which helps to control
Safety chains
Lift movement and thermal states using the motor drive
Controls relays and contactors
Controls the doors
Controls landing calls and car calls
Controls photo cell
Controls position indicator
Direction of the elevator
Fire man services
There are input terminals that give feedback and requests to BG 15 to perform all the
tasks.
KT2
The operating voltage BG15 card is 19 VDC supplier terminal but its output
Voltage for the control purpose is 24VDC which is distributed through different
terminals There is also 110VAC input supplier through K30 terminal this is not
the operating voltage for BG15 card rather used for extra controlling purpose for
the devices Which need 110 VAC rather than 24VDC. It is used for safety chain
purpose and also used for the operating voltage for MONTE, DESENTE, PV and
GV relays coil through the output terminals K28 and K29.
KC22
The other input to BG 15 card is the one that comes through terminal KC22 from
Tap head which floor to go and which floor to stop and also helps to change the
speed accordingly i.e. high speed and low speed.
The operating voltage for Tap head is 24VDC, it gets this operating voltage
through the same terminal i.e. KC22 and it gives input through its CAA and CAB
terminal.
KM11
Another input comes from the motor though KM11, which is the temperature of the
motor. This protects the motor from damaging because BG 15 after receiving a signal
from the motor thermostat it will announce an error and stops from giving any
command, this will stop the motor from moving.
KC23
To control the lift manually we have to announce the controller (BG 15) that the
elevator is in inspection/maintenance mode so we give this input through KC23
terminal.
KP26
The purpose of tap head is to help the elevator know where it is. But in addition to
this there is a method that the elevator knows it reached the end floor. This is done by
placing Extreme down (ED) limit switch at the bottom floor and this input is
delivered to BG 15 through KP26 terminal. This input to the BG 15 is very important
because sometimes tape head may not work properly or the flag that the tape head
may not be placed at their exact places the placement of ED switch is necessary.
KA13
The controller especially BG 15 must know the status or feedback of fermator and
also communicate with the elevator door operation i.e. when the door is opened or
closed if the end limit is reached, if the photocell is interrupted, if any alarm calls are
made etc. this kind of inputs are supplied to the BG 15 through terminal KA 13.
KC21
Inside the cabin a passenger gives call to the elevator to go to some floor and before
action the controller receives the message and checks safety lines if they are complete
it will register the command and give command to the motor drive and starts to move.
The passenger calls are entered to the BG 15 through the terminal KC21.
KP21
In the same way passenger outside the cabin gives down call signals to the elevator
and this call is taken in to BG 15 through terminal KP21 if it is a down call and
processed in BG 15 if the car is going down it will serve the passenger but if the
elevator is going to the up direction it will hold the call until it comes back.
KP27
If the call from outside the cabin is an up call, it will be inserted to the BG 15 through
the terminal KP27.
KP34
The other input comes from KP34 terminal; the use of this terminal is to receive
message from the smoke and/or heat detectors in each floor if fire exists and there is,
BG 15 card takes this message and performs different actions as per the program. The
program may be to stop the elevator completely or to take the elevator to another
floor, etc.
KC28
BG 15 also controls the carrying capacity of the elevator, for example if the carrying
capacity of the elevator is 6 passenger i.e. around 480kg and if the total weight of the
passengers is the same as 480kg then BG 15 will automatically reject landing calls
and takes the passengers. But if the weight of the passengers is greater than 480 kg
then BG 15 card will give a command to stop the elevator from moving and
announces the carrying capacity of the elevator is excited. This all data from the
weight sensor is entered to BG 15 card through KC 28 terminal.
If we want the elevator to be out of service for other users i.e. if we need the elevator
for special gust we can make the elevator out of service for other passengers using the
key inside the car or from outside the car at first floor. This is possible by sending the
data to BG 15 through terminal KC 28.
KP22
KP22 terminal is used to supply 0V voltage to over load, full load and out service
keys because they get 24VDC from KC28 and it is obvious that they should get 0V to
work properly.
K62
In DAN elevator controller there is a phase sequence relay which controls phase loss,
phase reverse, over voltage and under voltage conditions. If any one of them from
above listed things occurs phase sequence relay will deactivate itself. BG 15 card uses
this feedback coming through terminal K62 to terminate every action performed
because those problems listed are very hazards to the equipment’s including the
motor drive, and also analysis’s the operating conditions or status of the Monte,
Decent, PV and G relays ordered by the BG15.
Output of BG15 cards
The out puts of BG 15 card to perform different tasks.
KC24
Bg15 card has an output to alarm buzzer which is 24 VDC and 0v, it gives this out
put through terminal KC24. The control voltage which is distributed to different parts
is 24 VDC.
KP24
Position indicators get their operating voltage which is 24 VDC and CREP signal
from this terminal of BG15 card.
KC29
This terminal gives operating voltage to car calls; we have discussed where the car
calls came to BG15 card.
KP29
This terminal of the card is an output supply to landing calls i.e. 24 VDC
K23
From the input terminals BG15 card decides many important things including the
direction of the elevator. We know the direction of the elevator from the position
indicator whether it is going up or down, position indicator gets this information from
this terminal.
KA14
Door open and door close commands comes from BG15 card i.e. terminal KA14 and
goes to FERMATOR and the fermator in the other end gives command and operating
voltage to the door motor.
K29
Any elevator should go forward and back ward in low or high speed. To manage
these things accordingly an intelligent system is necessary. BG 15 card is an
intelligent controlling system which can manage the above things by receiving
different calls and commands through input terminals and gives out output signal to
the motor and drive. These commands in Dan elevator system are MONTE,
DESENTE, PV and GV which are send through terminal k28 and k29.
K30
In an elevator system the main thing that should be given emphasis is the safely
system of the elevator because if in any point the safety chain is not complete and the
elevator starts moving then the consequence will be very fatal. So, BG15 card
controls every safety chain starting from speed governor, buffer, stop switch, up and
down limit switches, stop switch [inspection box], cabin door, landing doors through
terminal k. on BG15 card we can see which safety line is disconnected by visually
watching 6,8,10 LEDs.
If the 6th LED is not lit then safety line between speed governor, buffer, stop switch,
up and down limit switches and stop switch [inspection box] is not complete so that
must be checked.
If the 8th LED is not lit then the door of the elevator is not closed so if the elevator has
to move the door must be closed.
If the 10th LED is not lit, one or more than one of the landing doors are opened so it
must be closed.
ATV 71 MOTOR DRIVE
Motor drive is very important part of the elevator controller. It is mostly known as an
INVERTER, which is also called VVVF [variable voltage frequency] because voltage is
inversely proportion to frequency i.e. it controls the speed by changing voltage and
frequency at the same time.
Motor drive is the one which controls the speed of the motor accordingly. Most of the
time the speed of the motor is given on the name plate and the motor runs at that speed
but the
Speed which is given on the name plate is very high and difficult to use for elevator
system. Motor drives resolve this problem and help to manage the speed as we like using
binary inputs.
The section is main input supply to motor drive is 380 VAC, three phases, 50 Hz i.e. R,
S, T. But in emergency (when power failure occurs) motor drives operates in 220Vac
single phase voltage and the second output section is control input section which receives
a command signal from a BG15.
The first one is power output section which gives three phase 380Vac voltage to the
motor U, V, W terminals. And there is also a brake resistor output terminals (PA+, PB)
which helps for electrical braking system.
The second section is control output section’s which a programmable relay are and those
terminals are R1A, R1B and R1C and the other relay output terminal is R2A and R2C.
TRANSFORMER
As it is known there are three types of transformer according to the jobs they execute.
Step up transformer
Step down transformer
Impendence matching transformer
The main objective of step down transformer in controller is to step down the voltages.
It accepts380 VAC three phase input and it gives 110VAC single phase for safety chain,
60 VAC single phase to rectifier i.e. For motor break and 19VAC single phase for BG 15
card but first it has to pass through rectifier and converted to DC voltage output.
RECTIFIER
There are different types of rectifiers, for example, half wave rectifier, full wave
rectifier, bridge rectifier etc.
In company they use bridge rectifier to change AC voltage into DC voltage which comes
direct from the transformer.
The operating voltage of BG 15 card in 19VDC but the output voltage of the transformer
is 19VAC so it must be rectified so this work is done by the rectifier.
The operating voltage of motor break is 60VDC but the output voltage of the transformer
is 60VAC this is also rectified using the rectifier.
RELAY
In Dan elevator controller there are more than 7 relays with different purposes. For
geared (induction) motor the following relays are necessary.
Phase sequence relay: - this relay is used to control phase sequence, phase
reverse, over voltage and under voltage. If one of the above listed problems occur
phase sequence relay will be deactivated and sends message to BG 15 card through
its normally open contact.
Monte relay: - this relay accepts it operating voltage from BG 15 card (A1) and
safety chain (A2) to operate properly. The use of this relay is it sends signal to the
drive to go upward (forward) through its contact points.
Descente relay: - This relay accepts its operating voltage from BG 15 card (A1)
and safety chain (A2) to operate properly. The use of this relay is it sends signal to
the drive to go sown (reverse) through its contact points.
PV relay: - this relay accepts its operating voltage from BG 15 card (A1) and
safety chin (A2) to operate properly. The use of this relay is it sends signal to the
drive to go in high speed through its contact points.
GV relay: - this relay accepts its operating voltage from BG 15 card (A1) and
safety chain (A2) to operate properly. The use of this relay is it sends signal to the
drive to go in low sped through its contact points.
Up direction relay: - this relay accepts its operating voltage (24VDC) from BG 15
card and sends message to all position indicators found in all floors that the lift is
going in upward direction.
Down direction relay: - this relay accepts its operating voltage (24VDC) from BG
15 card and sends message to all position indicators found in all floors that the lift
is going in upward direction.
For Gearless Motor the following relays are added on the above ones
Enable relay: - this relay is used only in gearless motors because the drive used is
different from the one which is used for the other controllers. The motor drive
needs enable signal to start working properly. This relay gets its coil voltage from
the safety chain i.e. 110VAC. When it is energized its sends the enable signal
through its contact points.
Main contactor controlling relay: - this relay is an important relay in gearless
motor, elevator controller, which helps the motor drive to control the time delay of
the input supply of the motor through the main contactor i.e. it controls the main
contactor when to be energized and de – energized.
Fig9 relay
CONTACTOR
In DAN elevator controller there are around two contactors used but when emergency
system is added the number of contactors increases.
Main contactor (KS):- the main purpose of this contactor is the main supply to
the motor passes through the contact of KS contactor.
Break contactor (KER):- this contactor is directly controlled by the motor drive
out put relay contact. The supply voltage comes from the safety chain passes
through motor drive internal relay contact and reaches A2. The purpose of this
contactor is that the supply voltage to the motor break i.e. 60VDC which comes
from the rectifier passes through this contactor.
Emergency contactor (KA):- the main purpose of emergency contactor is to
separate the safety chain voltage during emergency and with line voltage. The
voltage that comes through safety chain during line voltage is 110VAC but in
emergency time the voltage that comes through the safety chain is 220VAC, so
these two different voltages must be separated if in case line voltage comes during
emergency period.
Fig 10 contactor
Main contactor (KS):- the main purpose of this contactor is the main supply to the
motor passes through the contact of KS contactor.
Break contactor (KER):- this contactor is directly controlled by the motor drive out
put relay contact. The supply voltage comes from the safety chain passes through
motor drive internal relay contact and reaches A2. The purpose of this contactor is
that the supply voltage to the motor break i.e. 60VDC which comes from the rectifier

Emergency contactor (KA):- the main purpose of emergency contactor is to separate
the safety chain voltage during emergency and with line voltage. The voltage that
comes through safety chain during line voltage is 110VAC but in emergency time the
voltage that comes through the safety chain is 220VAC, so these two different
voltages must be separated if in case line voltage comes during emergency period.
Fuses
Fuse is protective device it is nothing more than a Short length of wire design to melt and
separate in the event of excessive current. Fuse are always connected in series with the
component(s) to be protected from overcurrent, so that when the fuse is blows(opens) it
will open the entire circuit and stop current the components. A fuse connected in one
branch of a parallel circuit, of course, would not affect current through any of the other
branches.
In this controller they use seven fuses the first three fuses are used to three phase supply
the forth fuse is used to the transformer that supply to card the fifth fuse are used to motor
break the six fuse are used to shaft power supply the seven fuse are used to emergency
supply and the seven fuse are used to fermator supply.
Figure 11 fuses
In this room they build Emergency Controller circuit this circuit used to uninterruptable
Power supply, also uninterruptable power source it also has UPS or battery Flywheel
backup, it is an electrical apparatus that provides emergency power to a load when the
input power source or main power fails. A UPS differs from an auxiliary or emergency
power system or stand by generator in that in will provide near-instantaneous protection
from input power interruptions, by supplying energy stored in batteries, super capacitors,
or flywheels. The on- battery runtime of most uninterruptible power sources is relatively
short (only a few minutes) but sufficient to start a standby power source or properly shut
down the protected equipment.
Technical Descriptions
This UPS is multi-modal system, i.e. it can work as off-line (standby) source or as on-line
(direct on) source. But in our case since the system in their phase and the ups in single
phase we use it as STANDNY power supply. This means it stays charging the battery
until power is interrupted and called up on by power switching contactors.
Emergency evacuation device is used to move the lift in case of main power failure
there is separate panel mode for this purpose and fitted in the main control panel cabinet.
The panels have three main contactors, namely KA1, KA2 and K1, KA1 and KA2 work
in normal mode (when main power is on) and k1 works when main power is gone.
The emergency device gets position information by magnet sensor when the magnet
sensor closes the lift stop and the cabin door is opened. (Letting the people get out).
The cabin does not move further after reaching the nearest floor until the main power is
come.

T3 On time delay timer for command signal (FRW or REV) to the drive
R2 car stop and door open signal through normally close and open contact respectively
During my internship program I have doing lift safety device installation, shaft wire and
traveling cable distribution.
They have many safety devices in one lift system such safety devices can prevent the
passengers from any trouble. Those devices can interrupt the unnecessary lift travel in
both electrical and mechanical way.
1. Speed governor: - one of the devices used in elevator safety chain, they use the
normally close contact of the switch for electrically control circuit. Its principle of
operation is when the lift travel beyond its nominal speed, the mechanical coupled
device that is the speed governor will trip the switch means will open the
electrical safety circuit.
3. Bottom limit switch: - is a normally close limit switch it used when lift travels
towards downward and missed the bottom floor it will immediately open the
safety line.
4. Car oil buffer: - is one of our safety devices it is hydraulic type filled oil in the
cylindered will resisted up to 500 tones, when car sit on the buffer the switch will
open and the lift will stop.
5. Pit stop: - is a manually stop switch it used during a maintenance and servicing,
especially in the pit.
6. Inspection stop: - is a manually pressed stop switch it is used during a
maintenance, servicing, adjustment etc.
7. Car door contact: - is a normally open contact when the door is open but it will
be close when the door is closed
8. Landing door contact: - is the same to the car door contact but the only
difference
Depends on the number of floor all the landing door contacts connect in series.
Other lift components
Door operator
The car and landing doors shall be fully automatic, two or more panels center or
side opening sliding doors.
The car door operator shall be operated by VVVF motor and VVVF control card
and arranged for harmonic motion
External Control
Elevators are typically controlled from the outside by a call box, which has up and down
buttons, at each stop. When pressed at a certain floor, the button calls the elevator to pick
up more passengers. If the particular elevator is currently serving traffic in a certain
direction, it will only answer calls in the same direction unless there are no more calls
beyond that floor.
Photo Cell
Photo cells are a Non-Contact Sensor, Type B1. They can be used to protect entrapment
areas, when gate is moving open or closed.
The term Photocell (Photo-Beam, photo-eye) is a generic term that can apply to both
Retro- Reflective and Thru-Beam type devices. You will need to be very familiar with
the pros and cons of each type.
Proximity switch
Proximity switch’s are sensors which is used to detect where is the lift is located during
power loses or during emergence time.
Taped and flag are used to detect where the lift to go and to stop and it also used to the
lift to go in low and high speed.
Motor Tuning
When I had been In Dan lift technology, I actively participated in motor tuning.
There are two main types of motor that they use in their lift installation. These are geared
and gearless motors. But now days they are focusing more on gearless due to its
technological advancement and other advantages.

My supervisor gave for me assignment to doing hardware builder for position indicator
and checking its continuity by giving supply 24V dc either each floor indicator properly
work or not before sent site.
Position Indicators
This floor indicator used to show the destiny of elevator mostly it is use common anode
seven segment because Seven-segment displays are very common and have been for
quite some time. They can be found everywhere from the price signs at gas stations to the
display on your microwave oven to digital wristwatches. LED seven-segment displays
have become very popular in consumer electronics, mainly because of their low power
usage, ease of production and cost effectiveness. Seven-segment LED displays, like all
technology, have advantages and disadvantages

CHAPTER THREE
PROJECT
3.1 Abstracts
This project is software based horizontal load sliding machine it used to move load from
one place to another place horizontally which aimed to change the manual system of the
machine process to software automated system. This project reduces time conception and
human resource of manual system. This system is developed by using C# for windows
application software and Proteus for software’s. The system analysis phase shows that
what the existing system do and what the problems are. But the design phase shows the
new proposed system and it shows the solutions to the problems of the existing system.
3.2 Introductions
The main purpose of this project is to increase production rate and reduces human
resources of manual system.
This project used move load horizontal from one place to another during production of
controller. But in horizontal movement motor is not mattered by load but friction will the
matters and also surface either smooth or roughs.
Our project different from the existing system company used in mechanical department
that move load horizontal .but in electrical department for controller production they
move load by human labor ,so we solved this problem during our internship period in
this company.
For many years the controlling method held by the operator is manually operate to move
load from one place to another.
This highly consumes the working hour and speed of production so, the amount of
product per day became decrease and per year there is highly decreasing of products in
the company
3.4 Objective
The main objective of this project is moving load from one space to another space using
computer software.
To reduce time conception during moving one object from one space to another
space.
To avoid human labor during moving one object from one space to another
space.
To increase speed of company products
Primary data collection: - We use primary data collection methods have been
implemented for the identification of the problem and understanding the existing
system. Some of the methods we use: -
Interview: - It is a method of collecting data involves presentation of oral-verbal
stimuli and reply in terms of oral-verbal responses.
We use this method to collect data by direct asking peoples who work on this position.
Observation: - this method is also used to collect data, done by direct seeing the
Working environment. We gathered the information related to our system from
the working place through observing their activities. This method helped us for
understanding more about the system and what should the system operate.

3.11 Conclusion
This project is to move load horizontal from one place to another in production room.
The main purpose of this project is to increase production rate and reduces human
resources of manual system.
Our project different from the existing system company used in mechanical department
that move load horizontal .but in electrical department for controller production they
move load by human labor ,so we solved this problem during our internship period in this
company.
The preexisting system company used to move load horizontal is manually operating
system but our project to control this system by desktop application.
CHAPTER FOUR
ASSESMENT OF INTERNSHIP
In our university there are no enough machines and any electrical equipment because of
this it is difficult to generate skill full students. Now this internship period is very
important for me. I recognized the following questions and I have gained knowledge;
In this internship I understood the operation of some machine and the process of the
elements to be provided, how to develop control circuit and different types of motors are
moreover my tasks. During my internship I have gained knowledge and could also
answer the following questions to myself;
Contactor
Overload relay
Fuse
Drive
limit switches
Sensors
Transformers
By having knowledge and discover the working principles of the above electrical
components, I tried some circuit exercises and that is why I want to do project on . From
the project, I have gained information how to implement the project in the next my work
life to overcome the problems faced me. I get self confidence by improving practical
skills and understand the work now and sequence of product in terms of practical skills. I
have seen that learning practically is easier than learning theoretically especially if I ask
more I will get more knowledge.
At the beginning of my internship program I was almost new for everything in the
company. This makes me to ask more and more questions to the technicians and peoples
of the company who are experienced than me. This helps me to improve my 4.5.
Improving My Leader ship skills
The leader ship skill that I developed in my hosting company is, by recognizing the work
flow starting from the department head to the lower workers. I observed that how the
leaders are responsible to solve a problem when occurred how they lead workers by
understanding their work performance and ability to work. In general, I learnt more thing
of leader ship skills like;
Punctuality
Honesty
Reliability
Responsibility
being loyal and honest when doing professional judgments on issues of;
Cost vs. benefit analysis
Safety
Quality when doing any project or assignment.
The internship program contributes for me a lot of things knowing on the entrepreneurial
way of thinking and skills. The following points are some of that I developed during the
internship program; some of the common Entrepreneurship skills are:
Creative thinking
Problem solving
Need for achievement
Recognizing Opportunities
Willingness to take risk
Self confidence
Innovation
Total commitment
Need to seek refuge
It helps me to understand the business concept.

Elevator or lift is a vertical transportation system (vertical vehicle) that efficiently moves
people or goods between floors of a building. Dan lifts technology different from another
lift company by maintenance and material service. During internship period I got
practical knowledge about the machines in the company and their working principles,
how to control and how to maintain also general characteristics and component of hydro
power plant. My task during the internship was to observe electrical equipment’s and
understand their methods of operation Based on the major findings presented above its
The overall internship program is very interesting for me. I have got something new
which including practical and theoretical knowledge. There were some challenges that I
personally encounter during our four month duration in the company but I have solved
those challenges by searching the solutions. I was happy and effective because I gained
basic skills both in practical and theoretical aspects. Internship program has helped me to
improve all my personalities, just like interpersonal communication skills and my team
playing skills. My task during this internship was to observe electrical equipment and
understand their methods of operation. Based on the major findings presented above, it is
easy to understand that internship has a great significant in up grading student’s
theoretical knowledge and improve practical skill. I can generally conclude that this
internship program helped me to improve and develop my:
First of all, the university industrial linkage office should request or announce to the
companies earlier to the internship period so that the company will have reserve place to
the intern to host him /her. The UIL has low communication skill with the companies and
students, so the UIL must improve this skill.
I recommend to the school to know the specific companies of the intern students with
short period of time and check the mentor (advisor) to get the student at that specific
company with proper time interval.
