A Semi-detailed Lesson Plan in Physical Education 7

I. OBJECTIVES
During the activities the students should be able to do the following with 75%
accuracy:
A. Enumerate the Basic Stances in Taekwondo;
B. Verify the purpose of Stances in Taekwondo; and
C. Execute the Basic Stances in Taekwondo.

II. SUBJECT MATTER


Topic: Taekwondo Basic Skills: Stances
Reference: Taekwondo Basics. Shaw, Scott. 2003. Pages 186-192
Materials: Visual Aid, Pictures

III. PROCEDURES
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Greetings
2. Prayer
3. Arranging of chairs
4. Checking of attendance

B. Motivation
The teacher will teach and sing the pepsong entitled “DoReMi”, and the
students will follow.

C. Presentation/Discussion
The teacher will let the students stand up and watch the teacher demonstrate
and interpret each basic stances in Taekwondo, and after that the students
will imitate or show the same as what the teacher did.

D. Activity
The teacher will group the class into 3 and each group must make a modified
steps (dance steps) using the basic stances in Taekwondo. Each group will
be given 5 minutes with this activity.

E. Analysis
While doing the activity, the teacher will let the students brainstorm on the
question “Why is there a need to learn the basic stances in Taekwondo?”
using the same group. Each group will be given 3 minutes on this Analysis.
F. Abstraction
The teacher will call one student per group and ask:
1. What basic stances in Taekwondo have you learned?
2. What do you is the purpose of using the stances in Taekwondo?

G. Application
Using the steps done in the Activity, the teacher will let the students execute
what modified steps they have come up with using the stances in
Taekwondo. Each group is given 3 minutes performance and they will be
rated according to these criteria:
Accuracy 40%
Simultaneous 30%
Clean 30%
Total: 100%

IV. EVALUATION
A. Direction: Write on a ¼ sheet of paper the stance that is being executed by the
teacher in front.
1. Back stance
2. Fighting stance
3. Horse stance
4. Front stance
5. Ready stance
B. What is the purpose of the stances in Taekwondo? (In 3 sentences)

V. ASSIGNMENT
Direction: Search and read in advance the following:
1. The Basic Attacks in Taekwondo
2. The Basic Blocks in Taekwondo
3. The purpose of attacks and blocks in Taekwondo
